This minister is a moron. Burn something deserves burning like Mein Kampf.

I've read the Quran and I think it should be burnt just as much as Mein Kampf. Though these "Christians" seem like the "my mothers my sister" kinda bunch and someone should slap them with a fish and ask them what the equal sign means.

Funny thing is that these "christians" would probably get along great with islamic fundamentalists. They share the same narrow outlook.

We are still talking about book burning aren't we? Sorry ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls but if you are in favor of free speech and all that, no books can be burnt. What did enlightened leaders such as Stalin and Hitler do at one point or another in their elustrious careers? Burn books, destroy thoughts and ideas. Just cause you don't like the thoughts and ideas in, lets say the Quran, Mien Kampf, oh, the bible, can't have it both ways ya'll.

Book burning is dumb and no one should give these idiots any attention, cause thats there true motive.

But it is their right to burn any books they want, as long as they get all the proper permits etc etc.

government book burning is one thing, and should not be allowed. Government book burning involves censorship, removal of a certain book from cirulation. Some nutbars burning a few copies of a particular book - big deal. They did it with Beatles records, Catcher in the Rye, etc - and all it did is promote their popularity.

And all this does is provoke. NOT smart.

Now should we judge all churches because of the intolerance of one, as people are doing with Islam? Or should we judge these groups on a case by case basis?

No, because unlike muslims. The people who share there religion will speak out against this in outrage and they apparently have already done according to that news report. They will express there detest for there actions and intolerance.

Where muslims will only speak out against dutch cartoonists drawing there prophet or some stupid shit where a non-muslim "offends" them. They never speak out against there own, hence they are labeled in the same group as them.

Anyways, as for the church. There intolerance is ignorance will only bite them in the ass. They always represent a minority and when some minority church group does something like this, it has always gone very bad for them.

Ironically, you're closer to the truth than most people realize. The Islamists recognize Christians and Jews as 'people of the book' and, as such, have a degree of tolerance for devout believers that they do not have for secular humanist atheists, deists, and etc.

It's one of the reasons I've often said that if the Islamists take over Europe and and USA I might want to hold off on fighting them until after they're done with the liberals who so adamantly defend them.

BartSimpson @ Mon Aug 23, 2010 10:17 am

And by the way, if it is 'free speech' to burn a US flag as a political statement then it is also free speech to burn a koran or a Bible if you're so inclined.

IMO, it's both in really bad taste, and should not be allowed.
A few things should be kept sacred. A country's flag, a book of prayer, other peoples possessions, other peoples bodies ...
