I find it disgusting when someone vandalizes or destroys ANY place of worship. You don't have to agree with whatever beliefs are associated with a place of worship but one should respect that there are others who do.
I wonder what goes through the minds of the people who actually do this.
Are they white self-proclaimed "allies" who think that destroying churches strikes a blow for Indigenous people, even though many residential school survivors have consistently said they don't condone this and it's actually hurtful in some cases, like when the fires destroy artwork they made as part of their healing processes, and assume that Indigenous people who might criticize them are suffering from "internalized colonialism"?
Are they Indigenous radicals who assume residential school survivors or anyone else who doesn't agree with them is a "hang around the fort apple" who's red on the outside and white on the inside?
Are they people who just have their own grudges with Christianity, and are acting solely on their own without thinking about any other communities or people?
Are they psychopaths who just want to watch the world burn?
And do they blithely assume that the fires they start wouldn't spread out of control, to the point of restarting the fires that ravaged so much of the country last year, or injure or even kill some innocent person?
Or do they even care?
