Every year, all across Canada, these fucking low lifes steal the boxes for whatever reason.....to feed their drug habit or whatever. If and when caught they should be strung up by the most sensitive part of their body and left to rot!!

   

   

No...they shouldn't have to chain them to anything. No one has any respect for anything anymore it seems.....

   

Yes, some people are a-holes, and people who do this type of thing are bigger a-holes. That being said it's pretty easy for you people to judge them based on a story like this when you have no idea who these people are or where they come from. Don't get me wrong, I think they have pretty low morals as well, but most people can't seem to understand the differences in society, people just read this story and automatically assume these are the scum of the earth.
How were you raised? Most people have a good upbringing, are raised to have good morals and respect others. BUT, some people are raised in absolutely horrible conditions, with drug addicts for parents, or have an abusive alcoholic father who beats on them, or live in a poor family who can barely scrape together enough to eat, or any number of other horrible living conditions. While some can climb out of those situations and become good, contributing members of society, most cannot, it's not an easy cycle to break. I guarantee most of you who grew up in mostly "good" households would be completely different people if you happened to be born into the same situation as some of these people are.
Problems like this (these people) are a reflection of our society, if we made sure that no one went hungry, that (higher)education wasn't just for people with money, then society would start changing and you would hear stories like this one less and less.

   

I don't think you can make any drugs from the flowers. AFAIK they are made from the ooze made from cuts while they are still bulbs. But I would'nt be surprised if some shmucks tried to smoke em ! Weirder things have happened.

These are plastic flowers, DD... plastic.

   

They aren't real poppies we use. Just fake ones that are pinned to our clothing. The British that I've seen, use ones that look a bit more like a flower but are fakes as well.
In Canada they are kept on the counter of a store in an open box and the honour system is used to pay/donate for them. There is no price but I think most people drop in a Loonie or Twonie. They are also sold by Veterans or Cadets who have a table set up at someplace like a mall.

Actually, you can guarantee nothing. You have no idea about the people on an internet forum and making a sweeping statement such as that suggests a hopeless arrogance in your psychoanalytic abilities.



Or... if people took personal responsibility for themselves and followed the moral compass of society, we'd likely hear fewer of these stories.

   

Actually the world and the people in it would be better if we were more concerned with helping others instead of our own selfishness. You are part of the reason there are problems like this in our society. You don't hear about many people coming from good homes doing really bad and stupid things like this because thats how they are/were raised.

   

Just a minor point Gunnair, the Legion Poppy fund is accessible by any member of the community, not just Legion members. So these scumbags are stealing from themselves.

I'm betting they weren't stolen for food money, most likley is drugs or youth that haven't been taught any better by their parents, still it takes the lowest of the low to steal from charity especially one linked and founded by poeple that bled so these scumbags can enjoy their freedom to smoke crack or be little shits
