Weren't they warned well in advance of her being nominated for the position that this binch had anger and entitlement issues, and that it was likely she'd be a big embarrassment in due time when the position went to her head?

She was charged with something like stalking harassment once too IIRC. Sounds like she’s got a couple screws loose.

Her Majesty should replace her. That's her boss, after all.

Here's an idea. Replace her with....nobody.

Then who is the check or balance against a corrupt government?

Maybe HRM believes this is the right person to deal with your government.

Facetious or sarcastic? :?

So if even famous astronauts have to shit and pee, does it come as a surprise some can be assholes too?

THe procedure is that the PM has to go to the Queen and ask her to replace her. Which means he'd need to have someone to recommend.
And the reality is, how likely is it if you go to corporate and ask them to replace your Boss cuz he's a miserable twat that that's gonna work out for you?

Neither. That is the job of the Head of State, and their representative the Governor General. Everything the government does must pass their desk before it becomes law.

Assumes The GG clears it with HRM first.

Queen Elizabeth may not be informed of the GG's treatment of her staff.

After QEII, we will need to get more serious about the GG position as it will become our de facto head of state. Beyond hard-core monarchists, nobody is going to take Chuck or Will seriously, and the head of government should not be selecting a person who may have to rule against them. Perhaps there might be some way the PM could ‘consult’ on a candidate selected by parliament in secret ballots - a less formal version of the Israeli and German presidential voting systems - without having to get into constitutional change which is all but impossible?

The Head of Government is the leader of the party with the most seats in Parialment.

The Head of State is the Queen (or King) of Canada, and the viceroy who represents the Monarch is a choice made by the PM and approved by the Monarch.

There actually was a Supreme Court case back in April that set a decision that Canada does not have to proclaim whoever succeeds Queen Elizabeth as Monarch of Canada, and we could appoint someone outside the succession of other Commonwealth Countries.

But it still remains that person should absolutely be able and willing to rule against the government, should the government decide to change laws it disagrees with.

Sunnyways @ Wed Jul 29, 2020 9:29 pm

One possibility - ignore QEII’s demise and make her monarch in perpetuity. Such reform would not noticeably affect the frequency of visits by our head of state.

DrCaleb @ Thu Jul 30, 2020 6:57 am

So when an urgent matter of State arises, we should consult Her Majesty using an Ouiji board?
