She was only in 8 episodes, but was in 4 of the movies! Pretty good for a 'Red Shirt'.

I was surprised to read she was only in 8 shows because I recognized her right away. In one of the Obits I read they noted her rise in rank throughout the movies.
RIP

She seemed a nice person. RIP.

Cripes, we're getting old!

That's very sad. She was an incredibly gorgeous woman back in the day.

I recall her being 'Commander' in "The Motion Picture". 'Nurse Chappel' (Gene Rodenberry's wife, and voice of all computers) also rose to 'Chief Surgeon' on the Excelsior for the second movie. Sulu made Captain of the Excelsior for the 6th movie.

It's funny too, because everyone thinks of the combination Sulu/Chekov at the helm, but they were only together for a few shows too. George Takei was in both pilots, and almost every episode afterward, but the 'Chekov' character didn't appear till the third season. And only half of those episodes at that!

^^ (What a nerd!)

You're confusing Whitney with Majel Barrett.

I should have started a new paragraph, but I did make the distinction between the actresses. Majel Barret was one of the few people to act in all of the series, being the voice of the computers. And mother to Deanna Troi. ;)

Chekov first appeared in Amok Time - second season premiere episode
