whats the point of having an election, if the other parties are gonna cry and make a coalition against the party that most canadians voted for. this coalition kinda sounds like a form of genocide

PENATRATOR @ Wed Dec 03, 2008 10:49 am

Imagine if this happens, the next election campaign would be pretty funny watching the coalition losers, backstabbing their former buddies from the opposite party, it would be hilarious.

There would never be another election in the new Canuckistan.
Dictator Dion would just pass the throne on to on of his lackeys for the next 2 years, and so on and so on.

Comrade.

I would say that he is taking a page from Marin. I would just call it Politics plan and simply.

If this goes through, we will never have another minority government by any party that wont be overthrown by the losers ganging up on the winner.
Survivor politics. Voted off the island because you don't have the majority government immunity idol.

Quebec voted for their MP's like everybody else. It a democratic process that harper wants to take away.

You still need a willing coalition of enough seats.

$1:
Even before the presentation of Martin's Speech from the Throne, Harper had sought out his two opposition rivals to lay the groundwork of an alliance to unseat the Liberals. He would not have entered a formal coalition, but he was willing to advance key priorities of his opposition partners (starting with Gilles Duceppe) in exchange for their support for a Conservative government.

But while the Bloc Québécois was game, even back then, to enter a mutually satisfactory arrangement with an eventual government, the NDP was not.

That changed six months later when Jack Layton co-wrote a budget with Martin. Although the Bloc did not support the Liberal-NDP 2005 initiative, its decision was rooted in its desire to campaign for re-election against the backdrop of the sponsorship scandal rather than in the substance of the joint budget.

Harper tried it before but no dice because he couldn't swing it.

Had he engineered it back then he would have been fully supported and lauded as a political genius for united the parties against the hated Liberals.

Virtually all the people attacking the coalition would have been steadfastly for it when the Liberals would have been on the losing end.

Harper to address country tonight! He's way out of touch. I have previous plans.

Post the letters side by side and show us where Harper formed a COALITION with a specific length of time and details about a cabinet set up.

I dare you to.
