Not duty this port? LOL J/K!!!!

Oh, little piece of advice? Get a GOOD night's sleep before you leave Montreal. The transit coming up is a cast iron pain in the butt.

Met the Ottawa (the steamer) in Toronto in 91, they were escorting the Brittania with Charles, Di and the kids. Hooked up with a buddy from Cornwallis as my old man (was off to a function with all the C&PO's) got destroyed in the cave, ended up on the Brittania pounding back dark rum with the shit eaters, woke up on the couch in what turned out to be the Bos'ns mess back on the Ottawa, my buddy who was on watch found me an d pannicked as he had signed me on and had "lost" me in my drunken stupour, before discovering me back on the ship! Good times.

Never had anything like that happen........... ;)

I was mess mom (ie senior hand of the mess) for 16 Mess on Freddy. Part of the job is ensuring everyone is accounted for each morning in port. Did my head count and all was good. Went up to the cave to grab a coffee and there was one of my guys asleep in the cave. Ok, who was that in his rack in the mess? Back I go to check and take a good look. Hmmmm Mike lives in 12 mess, why is he here in Sully's rack? Off to 12 mess to see who is in Mike's rack. Ok, so Gilles is in Mike's rack and no one is in Gilles' rack! Come one guys! The ship is 440 feet long and there are 230 plus racks! I can't check em all.......ROFL.

Turns out Gilles was too hammered to make it to his top rack so he took, Mike's. Mike took Sully's and Sully wound up sleeping on the settee.... ROTFL

Rather than ass hats like Scott Taylor going around writing garbage, somebody should tour the Army, Navy and Airforce and get stories like this and publish'em (no names, no pack drill) I am sure it would be a classic.

On that trip alone my battles with the guys in the mess over the number of pairs of footwear sculling around the mess would fill a book! LOL. One morning I tripped over, what turned out to be 35 pairs of shoes, boots, sandles, sneakers and slippers in a bed space for 6 guys! Grabed a garbage bag and filled and hid it until we slipped for sea the next day ;) They got the point! 8) I was not the most popular guy in the world, but until you wake up to the fine aroma of 50 or so pairs of footwear.........
