Well, it's going to be almost 6 years before the first ship hits the water, so if Harper really believes in Canada First, he'll make sure the Navy gets more personnel so we can operate both ships.

That's another six years for the Kingston class to operate, too.

The Kingston class are not junk, say for example you asked your parents to buy you a car, you say you want something so you race the guys down at the track.

Your parents turn around and buy you a sub compact econobox. The car is junk for racing, but it was never intended for racing in the first place. Likewise the Navy is demanding things from the Kingston class that they were never meant or designed to do.

So of course they seem inadequate.

Your anology is both accurate and inaccurate. The Kingston class are not adequate as modern warships. However they do float and are perhaps suitable for sovereignty patrols of ice-free waters or fisheries enforcement.

The reason the Navy is demanding the impossible from these cheapies is because they have a job to do which these LIBRANO excuses for warships are unable to cope with. The frigates are apparently first class but these Kingston class are just boondoggles.

it's sorta like if McGuinty supplied the OPP with smart cars or neons.
