hum, no I wonder if they are already illegal how would banning them be any more effective???

someone?? anyone???

I thought not!

Wally_Sconce @ Sun Mar 16, 2008 7:06 pm

If banning anything ever worked, how about we ban criminals and be done with it.

YOUR_DEAD @ Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:16 pm

How about we legalize pot?

ridenrain @ Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:19 pm

What if we double secret ban guns?

What if we just gave the $2 billion to the gangs so they don't hurt us?

Although Im all for the legalization of marijuana, what difference would that make under the circumstances stated in the article?
There would still be e coming South, and guns and coke going North. If there's consumer demand for a product and its lucrative business for the seller, they will always find ways to supply that market.

we need something like marijuana at the bottom of the list of illegal drugs, otherwise the curious would be checking out heroine instead.

agree there is definity a link between illegal guns and the drug trade . you read about the arrests that involve drugs and guns all the time so this article comes as little surprise.

The status of pot has no bearing on the likelyhood of someone trying heroin....

The potential tax revenue on the legal sale of pot would go a long way to fund more police officers, border enforcement, addiction treatment and education.

The legal sale of pot would also put many criminals out of business overnight. You'd just have to be prepared for the fallout from the criminals fighting each other for the remaining drug trade.

Sounds like a great idea. let's legalize everything so it'll put the criminals completely out of business. Then they won't have anyone to fight.

Aside from the fact that there are no examples of this working anywhere in the world, why do you expect organized crime would stop and get real jobs?

Alcohol and tobacco are legal and taxed products yet there is still a large illegal trade in these items. Why do you expect that pot would be any different?

Wally_Sconce @ Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:14 am

Because pot smokers say it would be different.

stemmer @ Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:31 am

we need to take a stiffer stand against street punks and criminals. No more gentle pats on the behind...instead let's deliver a swift kick to the nuts....

ridenrain @ Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:41 am

Maybe we'd better not let the drug abusers direct policy then.

The Conservative's new crime bill of mandatory jail time for gun crimes should go a long way to helping this problem.
The left can bitch and whine about these poor drug addicts being thrown in prison "American style" but that also means there will be one less goof on the street with a gun.
