It's kind of neat to watch a country melt down. It sucks for the people, but if Chile is an example - things will be better for them in the end.

Well, it's true. Alberta is kind of the black sheep of confederation.

I wonder if they can get a couple more Indian chiefs to fly to Iran top bolster Iran's claims?

$1:
in 2010 Mr. Blakeney secured a $7,714 Province of Alberta-backed scholarship to pursue “9/11 truther” theories that the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks were a government conspiracy to justify the War on Terror.

Well this hardly a surprise.

You reap what you sow.

It's also of interest that Press TV is owned by the Iranian government.

Must be Curt and Jeff's favorite channel. :)

$1:
“It definitely is a money-making scheme, because a lot of native children have been sold into adoption, but it is also used as an assimilation program [and] a genocidal program,” said the second woman".

This is pure unadalterated bullshit. As everyone knows after we kidnap these poor little waifs we ship them off to London to be trained in the fine art of pickpocketing by a certain Mr. Fagin. 8O

Upon graduation from Mr. Fagin's Academy for Wayward Children they're brought back to Canada and strategically placed throughout our large urban centers where they begin their careers by picking the pockets of Iranian Nationals and at the behest of our governmnent they will begin collecting all the lint, gum wrappers, car keys and wadded tissue paper that will eventually be used to build a large long range rocket to target and destroy the outhouses used by the Hamas leadership.

Hmmm no, I would say Quebec. Alberta just does there own thing and creates a lot of envy.

Ya, imagine those guys making a profit on stealing babies, while the rest
of us are doing it at cost.

Shame on them.

Dialing back the propaganda and the emotional reaction to a report hailing from Iran a bit...

If one were to reread the story and insert that the Albertan authorities were social workers from child protective services then this story reads like so many genuine stories about children being separated from their parents by the capricious and utterly unaccountable acts of CPS workers.

Not to say that the story is true, but that the best fabrications all too often are constructed with elements of truth.

It'd be far better if CPS did not have such far reaching powers as they do.

Thanos @ Wed Dec 12, 2012 3:18 pm

Given how many children get beaten to death by their parents, or end up being victimized in other ways too horrible to even talk about because mommy and daddy are a pair of drugged-out losers or because mommy's new boyfriend that she met at the bar turns out to be a psychopath, I'd say that CPS should have more power to yank kids away from their abysmally shitty parents. And to ensure also that those children are never returned to the rat bastard losers, ever.

Having children isn't a right. Do the goddamn job properly if you decide to breed. If you can't then don't breed at all. There is no grey area here.

My last contract was with Child Services in Alberta. You are quite far from being correct Bart. Child Services workers are sometime hampered from a lack of ability to remove children from truly awful conditions, sickeneing abuse, or the opposite - willful neglect.

Then there is the opposite end of the spectrum; a little girl in Manitoba was killed by her step dad, after Child Services lost contact with the little girl and her mother. That tale is truly sick; the workers had the ability to protect that child, they just didn't bother it seems.

But aborting them is? [huh]

How's that work, exactly?
