Israel and Hamas at war after surprise attacks from Gaza

This region has endured so many years of conflict and, as has been noted in many above posts, there are many factors/history involved and the current horrific situation is hardly one-sided.

All I know is that when I see a little tiny body that would barely need much more than a large shoebox to hold it, it matters not at all if that baby is a Jewish Israeli or a Palestinian Muslim. All I see is a tiny soul that will never utter its first word or take its first steps.

One of these days, when a journalist on TV, whether it is CNN, CBC, CTV or whatever, makes the statement "the following images may be disturbing" I really MUST learn to look away or change the fucking channel. There are images burned into my brain right now that make me angry at no one in particular but at the generality of what we have become as a global society.

Someone here yesterday pushed the idea that the photos & reports of dismembered Israeli women & children were "fake".

Someone here was fooled by Israeli propaganda that babies were beheaded by Hamas, and can't seem to remember that far back for the details and is now confusing them with women and children. Luckily, my memory goes back more than 23 hours.

I know you're trying to do the right thing and see a commonality in the tragedy. But this world is what it is and ideology is so out of control that commonality is really no longer possible. The left and the truly rotten right are actually doing the same thing in terms of one side's casualties being a horror and the other side's being entirely fictional.....

Keep in mind too that there's an massive propaganda machinery that was built in the 00's & 10's by the 9/11 "Truthers". That machinery has now fallen into the hands of the truly wretched people on the dual extremes. What they're going to do now is going to make what the "Truthers" did look legitimate in comparison.

And the bulk of the foreign press has always been far more anti-Israel than is commonly acknowledged. Their out-of-context reporting is one thing, or how they rely on stringers working for Al Jazeera - don't be surprised either if/when it gets revealed that a lot of what makes it into the newspapers or to CNN/MSNBC comes from RT (Russia Today), the same fuckers who've been pushing Putin's line on Ukraine for over eighteen months now. The worst thing the mainstream press does though? It's in the way they consistently & deliberately alter photographs, or outright lie in the captions of these photos, in order to paint the Palestinians as innocents is much worse. And they've been doing this for decades.

I heard one journalist on the radio describing the debate amongst other journalists; whether to go to the funeral of this journalist, or go to the hospital and donate blood for the journalists who were still alive after that attack.
