CNN) — An Israeli patrol boat collided with a boat carrying medical volunteers and supplies to Gaza early Tuesday, witnesses and Israeli officials said.

CNN Correspondent Karl Penhaul was aboard the 60-foot, Gibraltar-registered Dignity when the contact occurred. In a radio message, the Israelis ordered the boat to turn back to Cyprus and accused the vessel of being involved in terrorist activity, its captain said.

An Israeli military spokesman said there was “some sort of contact” between the Israeli craft and the volunteer boat during the interception. But Yossi Levy, a spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry, said the collision occurred when the Israeli vessel attempted to turn around after ordering the Dignity to turn back.

excuse me, couple of questions here:

What is a CNN guy doing on a boat that is intentionally trying to run a blockade, knowing full well they will be intercepted, and possibly charged ?

Without some kind of 'incident' the boat gets moved to another port, and the story ends rather quickly.

But, since there was an 'incident', it is now news, and on CNN Int'l.

Is CNN reporting news, or now that they are putting reporters into what they know is illegal activity,

are they trying to MAKE news ?

Why not just kill them and be done with it? Egypt and Syria have already signed on.

This is pretty funny. The collision occurred when the vessels began turning back. Somebody didn't pass the required prerequisites to navigate a boat....

I wonder.. now I hear there was a reporter from Al Jazeera on the boat
as well.

What are they doing on a small pleasure boat, chugging to a guaranteed
confrontation, unless they KNOW something will happen.

p.s. I have seen a pic of the boat, dont beleive any bs u hear
about the boat sinking, all 'damage' is above the waterline,
and after all, the boat did make it all the way across Israel
to Lebanon ;)

This seems to go a bit more in-depth with the story, although admittedly from a perspective bent far towards my ideology.

This might be better.

"The Free Gaza boat, dubbed the Dignity, collided with a Navy boat, but Berlin said the activists on board have pictures to prove it was rammed, an allegation that Palmor said is ridiculous. "If we wanted to hit it intentionally, everyone would have drowned," he told Israel National News."

The Israelis should just sink any boats trying to evade the blockade.

Among the passengers on the boat are former United States Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and activists from Britain, Australia, Ireland, Cyprus and Tunisia. Israel previously has not challenged Free Gaza sailings to Gaza. The movement's activists have challenged Israel's right to sovereignty over the Gaza coast, but Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas has dismissed the landings as insignificant.

from the arcticle.

So it seems they were looking for a confrontation, and some
publicity; well, guess they got it.

Is it too late to sink the boat? Please?
