I guess you can cross them off your list if they are not your cup of tea. Other candidates to replace them could include Marvin Lee Aday (Meat Loaf singer) and Patricia Heaton. Bottom line is that someone from Hollywood who disagrees with Carrey's outburst should publically say so and let it be known that his views do not reflect all of Hollywood's views.

   

Who the fuck cares what an actor thinks? If you enjoy their work, watch it. Same with music. I don't give a shit if Paul McCartney wants the seal hunt banned, I'm still going to listen to some Beatles. Ignore celebrities and their opinions. That's not what they are there for. Unless you want to be included among the masses that watch trash like TMZ and Entertainment Tonight. God damn I hate those shows. Jim Carrey is hilarious, I love his movies, and I'll continue to watch them. Just like I'm sure many non-fucktarded liberal will continue to watch Clint Eastwood movies because they exude badassness despite his talking chair bit.

   

I don't think that's the perception. Conversely, that's like saying Gibson, Reagan and Heston represent all actors views .....or that Miller and Sandler represent the views of all comedians

   

I'm guessing that his message is that you don't need guns to be a tough guy.

Are you saying that actors must play only roles that fit with what they believe and support? In that case, Leonardo DiCaprio must be pro slavery.

   

I disagree - celebrities are still citizens and have every right to support whatever cause they want and speak out for those causes. And of course, people have every right to tune celebrities out if they don't like their views on the issues of the day, just these people;

I admit it seems somewhat unfair that celebrities have more influence and reach than the rest of us mere mortals, but OTOH, so does the NRA, which has less than 2% of all Americans as members (4 million or so).

I see Carrey's comments as the logical counter-balance to the NRA's stream of attack ads since Newtown.

   

There's always provocation, from both sides. It would be hard to draw a line and say. "This is incitement, this is retaliation."

Carrey's free to say what he wants and people are free to skip seeing his films.

As to the NRA's advertising it's principally been online and unless you're clicking on their ads you don't have to view them.

Frankly Carrey as far as I'm concerned was right on the mark and has a right to say what he wants. If you bring a weapon into your home that's meant to be used for killing and it kills someone you really can't act so surprised.

Also screw anyone who says simply because someone is a celebrity they magically have to just shut up about their opinions. You don't stop having freedom of speech simply because your famous.

   

That would make Stalone one huge hypocrite. Every Rambo movie he made makes me cringe. Considering he ran to Canada to avoid the Vietnam draft. As far as what Jim Carrey says or does not say about guns and or politics I could care less. Look at the sorce and think wow what does he really know and how does he know it? Jim Carrey is some sort of expert on guns. Why did he actualy look at a gun once?

   

Last I checked, Funny or Die was a website, not a TV station or a media outlet, so it's basically the same thing.

If you want to bitch about media coverage of the event, then don't forget that the NRA ads attacking Obama of being a hypocrite were mentioned quite a bit in MSM too.

   

Obama is a hypocrite on that topic. His girls are protected by machine-gun wielding men in company strength yet he thinks that everyone else's kids should be undefended...a position that is indefensible.

   

No he isn't. If he was just a rich guy like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, there would be hypocrisy there.

However, Obama's kids can be kidnapped and then used to blackmail someone into handing over the launch codes for a few thousand nukes, so I think it's a far different scenario than you make it out to be.

And let's not forget that Obama's kids are protected by a federal agency, not some private security firm or a bunch of mercs - that makes it far more legitimate.

But if 'patriots' like you feel that way, maybe we should just shut down half of the Secret Service (keep the anti-counterfeiting guys) and let ALL politicians and presidents/ex-presidents go unprotected. That includes the Bushes and all the other Republicans who still have teams of officers protecting them too.

Then when an Olympus Has Fallen type scenario occurs, the blame will fall squarely on 'patriots' like you who create false equivalencies like this.
