This has nothing to do with "going it alone" Europe....It doesnt matter if it`s just Europe, or any other countries following the Kyoto guidelines. This is an economy buster, and this is why Canadians need to wake up, and relise that if Dion wins an election he will push this through.

Good. Any country stupid enough to sign on to Kyoto DESERVES to go broke.

I agree that pollution should be addressed for its own sake but I do not agree that bankrupting developed countries is the way to do it.

All Kyoto does is to move wealth from developed countries to undeveloped (and usually stultifyingly corrupt) countries.

Kyoto is a fraud.

Or China, India, Pakista, Saudi Arabia and the Arab Emerates...?

Nice one GFPB. I'm hoping we see that in a courtroom when this whole thing gets exposed.

I've always been against Kyoto from the very beginning. It's complete non-sense. I'm one of the first to say that something needs to be done but it needs to be done intelligently. " We wnat Kyoto...bla bla bla...Government isn't doing enough...bla bla bla". Kyoto will raise our taxes...BIG time! Kyoto will make us poor. Kyoto will take money away from other much needed programs. Then people will complain the governement isn't giving them enough money for their cause....

Programs cost money, people! OUR money..... I fear Kyoto for my kids' future as much as Quebec seperation. Dion wins: it's depression. Simple as that.

Harper said it: Kyoto is a socialist scheme.

And socialism is the road to serfdom ! :)

Kyoto is small potatoes, compared to what really needs to be done.

Very true. It's a pay me now or pay me much more later situation that is being faced. I don't think Kyoto is going to get us there but I really don't think attacking the message is accomplishing much more than an ego stroke.

But instead of working together to come up with some tangible solution to this problem, the opposition parties have come up with legislation to try and force us into Kyoto which won't solve anything. The liberals in this country don't seem to be listening, we want solutions to the problem but Kyoto isn't it.

Meanwhile the bickering by both sides has us at a deadlock. Either we do something NOW or we don't. We signed NAFTA and we see how well that holds up to improvements over time  so I understand the reluctance but it is now or never, not 2050.

I agree with that, one positive side effect is that Harper has had to take global warming more seriously. His original plan wasn't good enough.
