well wouldnt go that far kashmyre....
My god this is pathetic of the Liberals.
Stand up and be counted, sheesh.
thats true and if the crime bill had been passed a few decades ago there might be some prominent tories sitting with clifford right now
Oh, yeah, that would be great. /sarcasm
So what exactly was the content of the bill? What was it that the Liberals were willing to let pass? If it's reverse onus stuff, which I've heard people in gov't kick around, then they're definitely culpable if not complicit in wrecking the idea of justice itself. I don't think there's many people on Parliament Hill that are standing up for individual rights these days. I wouldn't want any of the existing parties in power.
I havent seen a comment from the liberal team yet .. I think there were some issues that they felt needed to be ammended but Harper did not want to comply...
The Liberals walked out of the Commons en masse Tuesday rather than vote on a government motion demanding that the Senate pass an omnibus crime bill by March 1.
They dismissed the vote as a political stunt, pointing out that the Commons has no say in how the Senate conducts its business. The Liberals have abstained on several key votes in the past, including the last budget, but this was their first walkout. ..... well I guess its a political maneuver. they didnt vote so if it doesnt sit well with voters the liberals are off the hook.... but still think they should have voted
Probably see it as the tories holding the senate hostage like they did over the issue of funding for areas hit by the hard economic times..
That is exactly what it is... the liberals supported the bill in the commons and the senate has had the bill for two months.. the vote today was a vote to force the senate to pass the bill into law by March 1st.. so the liberals walked out instead of voting which would interfere with the operation of the senate.. (mostly liberal) and that would cause issues.. the tories want to make it look like the liberals are soft on crime when in fact they did support the bill in the first place.. its the forcing of the senates hand that they disapproved of...
Hmm, I bet Karla Homolka was happy to have the vote....wonder who her ex is gonna vote for? Bet Dion knows....
Green! it's the new Red!!!!
Liberals be damned:
“No matter how disastrously some policy has turned out, anyone who criticizes it can expect to hear: "But what would you replace it with?" When you put out a fire, what do you replace it withâ€
