The Conservatives will ignore this vote, because it is 'non binding'. I think they'd ignore it even if it was.

If the CWB is so good, why is not nation wide?
This is an honest question, I know jack about farming, the CWB, and the pros/cons of keeping/dismantling it. I am just curios why it does not apply east of Manitoba and west of Alberta.

God forbid in a country like Canada we should allow farmers outside of Ontario and Quebec to market and sell their own wheat. Oh the humanity.
What's that got to do with what is going on. Perhaps it is a good question but what we are talking about is a vote by WESTERN farmers which showed that the WESTERN farmers want to keep the CWB as their sole marketing tool. Steve's government has chosen to ignore the wishes of the parties concerned, WESTERN farmers. I see that as un-democratic. You may not!

So...due to it being voted on by western farmers I am not allowed to question?
I didn't ask, or state, that the boards existence should be voted on, or decided on, by me, I just want to know why it only applies to 3 provinces.
Also, ever think of the tyranny of the majority? Canada is not a democracy, why should the CWB decision be? There has to be protection and alternatives for those that do not wish to use it, anything else would be less than Canadian...or should we go by majority rules for everything?

The wheat board exists because the previous system could utterly screw over a farmer in the west (as it is many barely survive on farming) while their neighbor gets rich, the western farmers also have a significantly higher transportation cost than Ontario or Quebec farmers do.

Yeah, right! I am sure Steve is really concerned about the rights of the few. This is an ideological decision being made by the Conservative Government. Do it our way, regardless of what you want.

As the Brian got rid of the Crow, moving wheat is very expensive. If it is done collectively, it works better. Ontario, and east produce so little wheat it's not important.
