Integration only works when everyone physically looks the same.

I don't beleive in multiculturalism either, rather I beleive in full integration, but will it happen?

People are people, if treated equally under the law, a melting pot will naturally occur.

When I was growing up in the UK, I noticed they had a large Jamaican diaspora who were in all respects similar to the British other than phenotype. They were christian, conservative, and had been there since the 50s. Yet, for all practical purposes, a Muslim who barely spoke English would be better received than a Jamaican origin 2nd generation British citizen in most social venues (Bars, clubs, restaurants, etc).

My only conclusion is that integration's results will be no better than the multicultural concept when applied to non physically similar looking groups. If anything, it might even cause further resentment. And if these groups are seen as generally less than (the way American viewed blacks, Europeans viewed Jews, and Canadians view natives), success by them in society could actually cause serious and violent backlash.

   

There were plenty of 'Aryan' looking AshkenaziJews that were gassed. Except for the Orthodox Jews, who wore the locks and beards, you couldn't tell them from any other European. German/Austrian society had Jews in every nook and cranny, including military and police officers, politicians, scientists, teachers, doctors and grocers. Most were extremely secular and liberal....it didn't help them. Atheists and those who converted to Christianity were killed as well. Remember Europeans fought countless wars with each other over minor ecclesiastical differences.

   

Well there you have it. Now imagine a black over class emerges in the USA, or a native one in Canada?

We may have moved on, but how far? How will a rich, visibly different minority be treated if it were to emerge?

One thing the establishment hates is people who look different than us, and are better off. We as humans better learn to deal with it because multiethnic/multicultural societies are probably going to only increase in the future.

I bet you the Germans are far more content to have the Turks living in poverty mooching off the welfare in perpetual self pity, than for them to be running the banks, major businesses, influencing politics, and so on.

It doesn't surprise me that multiculturalism in Germany failed. The biggest problem with German multiculturalism was that they expected everyone to adopt German ways and culture WITHOUT letting them become actual German citizens. No wonder it failed miserably.

There are groups if foreigners who have lived in Germany for generations, yet are still not considered Germans, because they do not have German blood in their family history. You're foolish/naive to expect people to even try to assimilate if they will always be considered second class citizens.

In Canada, our multiculturalism is far more flexible and actually allows foreigners to become citizens and doesn't treat them like second class citizens.

   

Agreed. German should never have allowed that to happen. They should have given the foreign workers temp visas and sent them home when they were not needed. European countries are full anyway, they don't need much immigration. If their populations reduce because of low birth rates, that's a good thing.

   

I know very well how the term came into being and what they were used for, but it's obvious haven't got a hot clue which seems par for the course. Fail is your first, middle and last name.

   

You are wrong, sorry. "Ghetto" is Economic in nature. The Cultural/Racial/Ethnic component is merely coincidental, usually the result of Oppression from the Dominant Culture/Race/Ethnic group. The only reason why the term has negative connotations is due the Poverty where one exists, it has nothing to do with the Culture/Race/Ethnic group itself.

There needs to be a balance struck and opening the doors and having zero requirements is not working. There must be a prerequisite that must be met. The language of the land should be a requirement but that doesn't mean you should have to have that skill at point of entry but should have it within a certain time frame. If you live in country 2 years and you can't fill out a form or ask for directions the onus should be on the immigrant to meet that standard or face deportation.

This is not guts or balls on her part, it's just German. It was so refreshing to live out there where people spoke their mind (with the exception of WW2 topics) and didn't put everything through a filter as not to offend those with paper egos.

   

In a way Sandorski is right. Those who hate multiculturalism, don't hate it exclusively. They are also not fond of minorities or people other than themselves.

I don't see Nigerians or Chinese complaining about PET's decision to permit non white immigration, I don't want to sound like a tired old bag, but it is mostly (older) white folks complaining.
