In order for the Crown to justify an infringement of Aboriginal title, it must demonstrate a compelling and substantive legislative objective, it must have consulted with the Aboriginal group prior to acting, and in some cases, compensation may be required.

What the real issue here is not sending in the army to shoot people, but who is in control of the reserve, and how the governing body of that reserve makes their money.
They are on the boarder, so it is more than likely a few residence of that reserve cross illegally for one reason or another. Cigarettes and booze smuggling is my thoughts. Nothing that any of us would not be temped to do in their situations.
So what has happened is that the people in charge are close to this issue and have decided to give their people and the rest of Canada a bogus reason for them to protest. If there was no illegal crossing of the border, then they would not have a problem with guns being carried.
In short; a few corrupt folks in power, influencing the rest, to protest an issue that people have been mislead on.
Let's keep the ignorant white man vs. the savage out of it. It's stupid. If corruption and misspending from our leadership on both sides where not so prevalent we would not see so many homeless and impoverished natives.
So the solution is to get the cops and boarder police in to find out who is doing the illegal activity and throw them in jail.

Well now, isn't that what they are on the war path about? The government wanting to arm the border guard. And why not, its about time.. The border guards should be more interested in the illegal entry into Canada and the drugs coming in than trying to collect taxes from people who shop in the states... Its time to get tough with the natives..
