You’re all going off the wrong ammo set. You got to start at minimum with a Browning .50 cal and work your way up to a 30 mm cannon shell.
Maybe it is time to picket Catholic churches the way the some folks picket abortion slaughter houses.
Why not make them Eunuchs?
There's a few of ways to deal with these assholes and the institution that protects them. First embarrass the Church to the point that they feel threatened which will hopefully force them to deal with these people as the pedophile rapists they are, rather than just the poor sinners they claim to be. Then, they can be dealt with legally and not hidden away.
But, if that doesn't work there's always the carrot and the stick method. Take away their tax exempt status until the Church turns these fucking animals over to the authorities for proper prosecution. My guess is that when you hit the Catholic Church in it's wallet it'll change their less than stellar outlook on molestation.
And finally, vigilantism may just be the only way to get real justice. If these assholes are found lying in a heap, beaten and bloody wearing a sign that says I'm a child rapist there's a good chance that the other would be perverts in the church may just sit up, take notice and think twice about going down the road of depravity.
The only way this is ever going to be stopped is if the CHURCH and not the individual civil jurisdictions do the right thing and not move the priests to a different Parish. The authorities also have to stop sending them disadvantaged, parent-less or problem children because so long as the non stop supply of these unfortunates continues the horrific actions of these assholes will continue.
Unfortunately, I won't hold my breath especially with the Commie Pope because if past history is any indicator the Church apparently has no problem with the actions of these "poor sinners".
If anything, it was the previous not commie pope who protected these guys more. It was pope Benedict who protected cardinal dolan after he fled boston
JPII was also notorious for providing cover for these cretins.
Every Pope since the first Pope is complicit in the practice of covering up child molesting priests.

FOG's post brought up some very good points.
Why would the church not fire (or whatever the correct term is) all of these priests that have been involved with these abuses? Therefore, there is no reason to protect them or cover up their crimes if they are no longer priests employed by the church. Any other rational employer would fire any asshole convicted of a crime such as this.
They should be named publically, like anyone else, and face whatever punishment any sick f*cked up person would for committing these crimes.
The local archbishop would usually intimidate local law enforcement and politicians in heavily-Catholic areas into keeping out of it when these assaults would be reported. They had a lot of sway and could make things very difficult for the secular authorities during elections. That's the reason why so many kids had zero help available for them even when everyone around them knew exactly what was going on.
As for the church itself, "rational" isn't a word that applies to their internal mechanisms and thinking. When it comes down to the basics the underlying problem is that they believe their mission is so important that the priests engaging in crimes against children isn't an issue that can be allowed to derail their task for God. Hence the things the church leaders will do to cover-up what the priests are doing by moving them around to different areas where they can prey on a fresh batch of victims. And it explains why their immediate reaction, instead of bring the secular law into the situation, is to pay-off or intimidate victims into keeping silent. It's an arrogant modern-day hangover from when the church would literally hold the power of life or death over everyone.
I think most people generally like Pope Francis for his message these days, that pissed the American right-wing Mammon-worshippers off so much, of the dangers of greed and economic inequality. I know for me that was about as close as I've ever seen in my lifetime of a major Christian leader moving towards the real meaning of Christ's commandments to quit being so shitty to each other all the time. That being said he'll probably fail in doing anything about this the same way JPII and Benedict before him failed. It's just the way they're wired.
I think the reason the crimes were covered up is just money.
