The point might then be, that you don't know how many moderate muslims are speaking out against radicalism because they, like you, do it in small groups in coffee shops or basements or whatever.
Or has your speaking out against the Pope been on national tv like you seem to expect moderate muslims to do?
As a matter of fact, my views have been on TV, Radio, newsprint.
Besides, talking about it amongst yourselves isn't exactly doing something about it now is it.
Let's say some people overhear that someone is going to cause harm to you and your family. Now, don't you feel better knowing that those people might be sitting in some coffee shop or basement discussing it instead of going to the police?
I think you're having a hard time relating to the point. You're example is irrelevent to the point that you have no idea whether moderate muslims are trying to influence radicals. Becuase you haven't seen it doesn not mean it ain't happening.
Anyway, you're example of speaking out against JP II in a five second soundbite street interview is hardly the TV, radio, newsprint extravaganza you suggest.
Personally I think that any symbol of oppression of equality and the downplay of women as valid honest and good human beings has no right to be in Canada. It's an evolutionary step backwards and it's something one would expect to see in the dark ages. It has no place in modern society.

Well gee, sorry I'm not Rush Limbaugh and don't have national exposure. The point is, I've spoken out, it's on the record. Seen or heard any soundbites from moderate muslims denouncing a particular imam? Read any articles from moderates protesting the imam's speeches in North York, or any other cities? Seen or heard any moderate muslims publicly speak out against the intolerance of other religions?
Let's see, so far the score is, Catholic Priests speaking out against islam and getting busted for it..1. Imams in Canada busted for preaching hate and violence towards us...ZERO.
Which makes my previous point quite relevent. IF there's THAT many moderate muslims, as you wish to believe, then as a group they should be more vocal about it. If moderates are indeed the majority in Canada, why don't we hear more from them. If their "religion" is indeed so peaceful and tolerant, why don't they speak up when others are threatened with violence?
If you went to church and the minister started talking about wiping out the muslims, would you talk to him to try and sway his viewpoint or would you actually
do something? Would you not expect others in your church to do something about it too?

Yes. Leave that particular church and have the priest arrested for hatespeech.
