Muslim group wants prayer in public school stopped

I hope if a Christian group wants to hold prayers they will accommodate them too. And of course the Wiccans, can't forget the Wiccans. They either allow every religion to hold services or none.
Still haven't taken the time to read the story andy?

“We will consider the prayer request for any group who has to pray during school hours,”
Do the Wiccans have to pray during school hours.....

I dunno if they do but it sure would have been nice to have the freedom and time to practice my druidical meditations when I was in school.
I don't see a problem here.
After all, what could possibly go wrong by allowing one of those nice radical Imams the use of a publicly funded institution to preach to young impressionable Mulsim males?
Religion has no place in schools. Period.

Which is why the Muslim group calling for the prayer in the school to be stopped is precisely because they fear it could lead to radicalization of Hindus and Muslims.

Unless they're teaching kids that religion is a load of bullshit.

It's called a science class that teaches the theory of evolution.

This story has been fueling all the radio talk shows for the last couple of days here in Toronto. This morning John Oakley, who's a talk show host on AM640, had a local imam and a rep from the Canadian Hindu Advocacy on to discuss this issue. The imam was asked couldn't they have the prayer sessions after school so it doesn't disrupt classes? He just flatly answered no it can't be rescheduled with no good reason given. This is but another example of many where muslims demand changes be made in Western society to accommodate them but they are willing to make no accommodations whatsoever in return to adapt to their new home. Did you know at these prayer sessions in this school the girls have to sit in the back of the room and the boys sit in the front? When John Okaley asked the imam why this was he said it's in order that the girls form did not distract the boys when bowing for prayer. For those who try and defend the muslims, keep in mind this is what you're defending.

You didn't know that?
Women are not allowed in the same room (or the same floor) of a mosque during prayer. They have their own space.

It shouldn't even be discussed. Allow children to learn about religion outside of school.
What's the point in allowing these religions to build these huge buildings to pray in if they never use them? Keep religion out of schools and keep it where it belongs, in their mosques, churches, etc.
I thought public schools in Ontario were secular?
The Catholic schools are the only ones allowed to say the dreaded 'Christmas' word....

I did read the story before commenting. Now we're going to tell religious groups they can't pray because they don't have to? We used to have school prayer in the morning. I think Christians would have a case. And the various smaller sects, who's to say what their prayer needs are. The Wiccans may not need to pray every day, but may need to sacrifice a goat on the solstices or something - they should be accommodated too.

Thinking all Muslims are radicals is like thinking all Christians are like the Westboro Baptist Church.

I think the "shouldn't be discussed" idea goes a little too far. You can't not talk about it considering what a powerful influence it has in the world. It shouldn't be practiced in public schools but it should definitely be discussed. If the schools can find the oodles amount of time they dedicate to the gay agenda I think there's time to discuss religion.
