Those evil Saudis you've been warning us about are after poor little Ezra now. They don't like his push for "ethical oil."

   

I don't dispute what he's saying. I'm just wishing we had a less obnoxious spokesperson saying it. Doesn't do much good for him to be right on oil but then get sued for slander or defamation on every other issue he talks about.

I only had time to browse and some of the sources would be biased, but others such as Environment Canada, Alberta government and National Academy of Sciences embedded in below links are reputable.

It appears dilbit is no more corrosive than other crudes. The viscosity is also similar. It has and does move distances through pipelines just fine.
