Wanna try an experiment. This is for all the people who don't believe Canadian media is biased.
OK go back to that article. In all the places where the Globe and Mail is making excuses for Jack Layton substitute the name Rob Ford.
So now tell me why everybody believes Rob Ford is a crack addict, but few remember Layton was caught in a raid at a Toronto massage parlor.
For those of us who are realists however the hilarity never stops. Gotta love this.

The NDP leader said he simply went for a massage and had no idea the place was suspect; Ms. Chow noted that her husband exercises regularly, was and is in great shape and just needed a massage...

yeah i saw the video you posted.
it did not sound to me he was talking about the kid.
i could be wrong and he was giving her more weight and thought she deserves.
a lot of clowns are running for mayor.
*sighs*
i don't care ..
too tedious .
maybe the guy who i posted it off could tell us exactly who he was talking about.
this is lame.

Nice. So FUCK all the people that wanted me to be the MP, my own political dreams come first.
I hope she divides the vote enough to give Ford a crushing victory.

The media is bias and bought and paid for via CRTC and such.
i agree with you more than you know.
The most blatant piece i ever saw was whenJane Taber from CTV's Question Period was leaving.
she said "My job is done here now that we have a majority Conservative government" on air at her retirement.
big guffaws all round.

lil over the top eh!
It's not like she walked across the room or anything.
She has been asked about this for a long while.

When she loses to Ford she will be begging for the seat she gave up.
BRAH BRAH:
When she loses to Ford she will be begging for the seat she gave up.

Again , this is not the first time or the last time someone did this.
Yeah it is a gamble , but maybe she has other aspirations.
Why not go on about those.
wow this is drivelly beyond drivelly.
Should be an interesting race. I'm not laying any bets, that's for sure.

Why is it that

I'm sure glad that I don't live and vote in Toronto. I'd have to wear a flippin' burka to cover my embarrassment.
Who cares who's the Mayor of Hogtown.
It's Toronto FFS, a city so freakin insecure that it had to have a contest to find a new nickname.

Listened to her on a radio interview this morning. Besides being in favour of LRTs over subways she had no other firm positions. Just BS hyperbole. I think she'll find that will only take her so far. She tries that in a debate, something I doubt she's ever had to do (I mean a real debate), she'll get slaughtered (which would be the best thing for the city).
This is simply not true.
she debated on parliament hill many times. She has sound platforms, always has.
she made her bones as a council member years ago in toronto.
and she is not all about

she has real solutions for real issues.
you may not want an NDP in power, but keep it real eh.
Yeah like her mailing out a taxpayer-funded flyer highlighting her work in Ottawa out to her constituents just before resigning as an MP? Or her going on a book signing tour when Parliament was sitting? Is that a real enough example of her disrespect for taxpayer's money? Or maybe the fact that she gotten to where she is now because she's Mrs. Jack Layton? Are we keeping it real yet?

They make Montreal look pretty good. Montreal's only problem is the parade of corrupt crooks running the place. This phenomenon is already a few centuries old and everyone of is long since used to it.
Toronto, on the other hand, considers itself to be "World Class" ... by "World" do you mean Mumbai?, San Paulo?, Mogadishu?
andyt @ Fri Mar 14, 2014 9:09 am
Conservatives, of course, never misuse the public's money to blow their own horns, right? How does she stand out in that regard? I think the Cons have her beat by many millions
As for riding Jack's coattails, that doesn't cost taxpayers a dime. The electors will have to decide if its valid or not. Maybe the same people that like Jack Layton like her because she espouses the same political philosophy.
If this is all you've got, you've got pretty thin gruel.

I was the one that brought that issue up here at CKA when it occurred and was attacked for doing so, the same way I was attacked for being the first one to bring up the Gawker article from a year ago that alleged Rob Ford was caught on video smoking crack. I thought Layton's excuses for being caught at the massage parlour were a load of shit and that he should have resigned over it. The Saint Layton hagiography was already in effect though and I got more shit here at CKA for even bringing it up as an issue than Layton ever did for being caught at a place engaged in an illegal and morally disgusting business.
I was also more concerned with Layton mouthing off and comparing our troops in Afghanistan to war criminals. I don't think that Layton was a particularly malicious person. But he was still a politician and would fight as dirty as any of the others when his thought he needed to. It was Layton's NDP that took the word of Karl-Heinz Schrieber, a convicted fraudster, as the literal gospel in order to launch an attempt to crucify Brian Mulroney for alleged misdeeds that occurred when Mulroney was no longer even prime minister. It was Layton that never did anything to corral Pat Martin, the most vicious and slanderous MP in the HOC right now, and the only thing that finally made Martin shut the fuck up was getting sued for libelling a private business owner over the utterly ridiculous robocalls "scandal".
The NDP are as dirty a bunch of fighters as any other political party out there. Most left wingers everywhere else are too. They get away with it all the time because of the natural sympathy the national media has for them. They aren't saints and they certainly aren't the good guys. They no more deserve the phoney halos above their heads than Ronald Reagan does in the US with the mythology the right-wing media down there has created for him.
