Good one here from the CBC comments section:

"Yes those who can get huge mortgages can buy a 300 square foot condo for a million..while those who scam the system or are too lazy to work will get one free to sell crack or turn tricks from it...sounds like a place I would not want to live.."

Word. Regular condos are bad enough with the non-resident landlords who don't care at all about the sort of maniac dipshits that they usually rent out to. Who'd seriously want to live in one, like the Olympic Village, where half of the units are slated to be given for free to the street creatures? Is that the dominant thinking in Vancouver and BC now, that nothing can be done on a public level unless part of it gets to be turned into yet another freebie for the drug addicts and hookers? If it is then give me good ol' cold-hearted Alberta any day of the week because here we don't usually fall for that crap.

Total bullshit. This is low income housing, not homeless housing.

Also bullshit tho is that each unit cost over 600K, which is double what they would have cost somewhere else - ie they could have built twice as many for the same price.

Blame it on Larry Campbell and Sam Sullivan. DeVinci doesn't come off looking too good on this one.
