Jane Birkin died today, French/British singer and actor (...and I use those terms liberally). Best known for her 10 year relationship with Serge Gainsbourg. Here she is with him in arguably one of the worst songs ever.
When you see atrocities like that from 1970's and 80's French entertainment culture it becomes easier to understand why they had that bizarre infatuation with the collected works of Jerry Lewis. It wasn't great works of cultural sophistication Europe was producing back then, it was mostly sheer crap, tedious nonsense accompanied by an amen chorus in the form of a cadre of dilettante pseudo-intellectual critics shouting "c'est magnifique!" no matter how truly terrible most of it really was.
Tony Bennett, Legendary Pop and Jazz Singer, Dead at 96
Damn. Another legend gone.
Sinéad O'Connor, Irish singer and political activist, dead at 56
She had such a haunting voice and a very troubled life.
56 is far too young.
RIP Sinead.
The Eagles' Randy Meisner dies from complications, the band says
The loss of another great voice.
RIP
'Dies from complications'???
Zero points to the person who OK'ed the title.
Everybody dies from complications.
Sorry... RIP Randy.
Paul Reubens, Pee-wee Herman Actor, Dies at 70 After Private Bout of Cancer
Not a fan, but fuck cancer.
I wasn't a fan of his either but I sure knew people who were as he was very popular.
At least he managed to keep his health issues private as far too often details of a celebrity's personal life are far too public, which IMO is unnecessary.
Mark Margolis, who played drug kingpin on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, dead at 83
Robbie Robertson, lead guitarist and songwriter of The Band, dies at 80
