The Ontario provincial government had better quit bitching about heading towards "have not" status when they are wasting Ontario taxpayers dollars on shit like this.

Sorry sir... all the operating rooms are filled at the moment. Once Mr Smith comes out Ms Smith you can have that emergency bypass operation...

Dalton, you little devil, everyone knows boys will be boys and girls will be girls,..................... except in Ontario now.

First dates will become a whole new experience. I can just hear it now, "Nice dress. I have one at home just like it."

Weird.

so maybe potential comments for this one , but really does the health ministry not have better things to spend our tax dollars on ? than this

if you guys had to walk a mile in these peoples shoes you might just think differently.
trans gendered people are born that way.. they deserve to live the life in the body they should have been born in. dont be so judgemental.. in the long run it would probably be cheaper to pay for this type of surgery than years of therapy....

Thanks to Dalton, all Ontario taxpayers can donate their hard earned dollars to helping any "dude look like a lady", as Aerosmith so eloquently put it.

And why should taxpayers have to pay for their therapy??

Well said Loader, I work too hard to see my tax dollars just pissed away like this without comment.

I don't want to pay for their surgery OR their therapy. Their problems are NOT my problem. Period.

Are some kid's inflamed tonsils your problem? How about Grandma's hip replacement surgery? Should your tax dollars pay to separate conjoined twins? A woman's abortion?

After all... none of those situations are YOUR problem either.

You're right they aren't. But I have more sympathy for poor old Edith who fell and broke her hip than I do for Paul who wants to be Paulina.

Broken hips, inflamed tonsils, conjoined twins are cannot be compared to sex change surgeries and abortions. While I'm not anti-abortion I don't like my money being used for "elective" operations like abortions, cosmetic surgery, etc.

Good thing your sympathy scale isn't the deciding factor.

Good thing for who? Not anyone I know.

and my question to you saturn is... we are spending millions on cancer victims who smoked their way to it.. should the tax payers pay for that? there are hundreds of issues that you could ask why we should be paying.. and yes the taxpayer would be paying for therapy.. we pay for the drunks who cause serious accidents. we pay for drug addicts and we pay for thousands who get health care coverage and have never contributed a dime to it... so why do we question surgery for people who are suffering being in a body that doesnt agree with who they really are.

Still not convinced, and I'd question whether we the taxpayers should be footing the bill for drug addicts and smokers, as well. And considering I smoke thats quite a statement coming from me.

I don't feel the taxpayer should be burdened with paying for other people's recklessness and bullshit.

This isn't an elective cosmetic surgery issue, it's a mental health issue. People who do not feel right in their own body are often driven to suicide because the person in the mirror isn't the person they feel that they are.
