Canadian
Does the UK subsidize the BBC?
The the CBC just a relic of our Commonwealth heritage.

Every civilized country on Earth has a CBC. Except one. The one that ran a semi-literate hose monster as a VP candidate and no media with the bllas to call it catering to the Jerry Springer set. Even on a web-site, which Mr Gunter is unable to distinguish from the whole CBC.
But that's not surprising for someone who missed the Stanley Cup as a Canadian event.

Yes. You must license your television in the UK. That money goes to pay for the Beeb.
How many times are you going to post this shit? You already got one thread on this topic locked, isnt' that enough for you?

Maybe he should listen to, or watch it first.

Apparently not...
That said, I'll let this thread survive. The previous thread on this subject was locked because it was getting too personal.
Sorry poquas but I do listen to CBC-AM every morning and often in the afternoon. I don't watch much TV but I'll watch CTV before I watch the CBC news. I just keep seeing a slant to their reporting that I don't like.

If you are talking about the United States, they do have public television, though I don't know about public radio. It's called PBS, and is primarily used in much the same way as the CBC, but with less sitcoms.
And on another note: I love CBC radio! I'd go crazy if it didn't exist! I'd have to listen to Pop, soft-rock, and country radio, which I do not enjoy. With CBC radio one, I get something new every time I turn it on. And usually more balanced opinions than I would find in many news sources.

I'm laying odds that (warnings notwithstanding) this thread gets locked after a half-dozen warnings and much mutual recrimination. Clearly the cheapshots from CanWest are about as on-target as those from the much-maligned (and deservedly so) Red Eye and are about as worthy of notice.
Reposting that editorial smacks of agenda, IMHO and it doesn't merit acknowledgement.

If I could rep you, I would.

The CBC is a lot of different things today. It's CBC TV, SRC, Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Newsworld, Bold, Galaxie and perhaps some things I have forgotten. I think we get good value for the money.
Some, unnamed people, on this forum are always complaining about CBC news. Last night on the National, this Fox thing about the Canadian military was included in the news, about 30 min. into the hour. That is where the item needs to be included. It was unimportant drivel from unimportant drivel. CTV had it as it's headline? And no eyerolls from Peter? Still waiting.

Yeah, I'm not sure what he is referencing there either. None of his allusions seem to apply to real life events.
