Oh brother what's next? Apologizing to Nazis for attacking Hitler? Enough already!

   

Are we going to apologize to the Scandinavians because the ancestors of Canadians killed them off in the 10th century??

   

It's unfortunate that the "we need to publicly acknowledge each and every mistake made in Canada's past, despite the historical context" still permeates throughout government, but hopefully this stuff has run its course, before we're apologizing to the the Germans, the FLQ and the Taliban. The Kamagatu Maru incident was an event CLEARLY in line with the times, representing exclusionary Canadian immigration laws of the era, so i'm assuming this will be on the memorial, right? If we're truly interested in history, then we're following basic historical inquiry practices, right? I doubt it. This needs to be put into proper perspective - exclusionary, xenophobic practices that are clearly not practiced in a modern Canada.

Next some goof-off will announce that people were sexist 100 years ago! Brilliant. And obvious.

   

Ahhhhhh, we weren't nice to those poor people, so now, to assuage our collective fucking guilt, we've instituted the immigration policy of, everyone is welcome, just waltz right in and start receiving the benefits, no questions asked.

But, on the plus side, we as country will never have to apologize to illegal immigrants for instances like this again.
