well 2 months does not make a year. We can put the liberals back in, we know they'll increase the revenues with the GREEN SHAFT and by restoring the GST to 7 percent. You know that thing that bag of shit Chretien said he was going to eliminate.
The CPC should stop spending so much cash on the cry babies in Ontario and we would be well into the green.
The only question is this a sign of things to come or just a blip. So far, Harper has delivered on keeping us in a surplus. If he wants a majority, he better keep it that way...

Cutting the line way too fine. Keep it in the black.
I find it difficult to believe this is accurate considering they just made $4.25 billion auctioning off bandwith.
But the conservatives have been spending more than the liberals did, not very conservative.

Not at all, I think that will be one of the issues the conservatives will have to reconcile with their core supporters.
Harper has a bit of work a head of him. If the conservatives think the electorate will simply hand him a victory in the next election just because they aren't on board with Dion's plan to tax the crap out of everything he's dead wrong and I think the polls have consistently shown this.
That being said I think it's a little early for anyone other than the alarmists to be running around using the word deficit. I'll bet a dollar to a donut that when the year wraps up and the number are in we will be seeing a healthily surplus unless an election is called in which case we can expect some heavy pre-election spending.

I think its a mix bag, the conservatives have been spending alot of the military recently, something that has been cut under 30 or so years. Military equipment doesn't grow on trees, and buying new tanks, ships, helicopters, and aircraft do cost alot.
If it was all on pork barrel projects (I know plenty of it is, government is government no matter what political party it is), then yes, I agree this would be something I'd be up in arms. Also...this is two months of the year...we have ten months of taxes and expenses, fares and tariffs, subsidies and Quebec buyoffs to go.
It has to be noted that the Liberals, if anything can handle the economy better. Although there is strong criticism towards Dion's carbon tax, it would definitely give the government more spending money
The conservatives will probably try to cut their expenses. Now come the justifications for dismantling public and social institutions, and cutting government services, all because of an ideological and incompetent government with a Finance Minister who apparently can't do math!
It's like the early nineties all over
The cons turned a 13 billion surplus into a deficit in less than 2.5 years.

Yeah and we have some great subs that run on the bottom of the ocean. you liberals spend on useless crap, ESL......SOW......ECT....
I'd rather have new stuff for our boys then a bunch of feel good crap that does nothing for Canada.

I don't see many changes since the conservative party was elected....where did all this money go? The conservatives are in deficit and have nothing to show for it
Why don't you stop pointing the finger and actually provide some facts as to what the cons have provided for Canada since they were elected.
poor manger and management usually get fired. Government that are poor mangers dont belong in office
By Liberal standards, its ok to steal the 50 million from the EI fund and declare the budget balanced. If the CPC do this, I'll bet that Dion flip flops again on yet another fiscal principal.

Can you read? The deficit was for April and May.
When was the auction completed? July 21st.
So is such a brief snapshot of any value except for crass political headlines?
