What's even more shocking, "19 northern Philippines provinces". How the hell?
The buggar is giving us shitty air quality.

Why the surprise?
Don't judge the provinces in other countries with Canada's... ours are huge.
I think that Italy has over 100 "provinces", Japan has a lot and France too (even though they don't call them provinces anymore).

"Compare" would have a better choice of words.
Anyone has doubt about Global Warming, this Super Storm should make them reconsider.
$1:
...forecasters expecting it to intensify to a super typhoon with winds in excess of 250 kph as it makes landfall on Monday.

There's been a few stronger ones in the last six or seven decades (keep in mind wind speed is not the only factor which is destructive in storms, and this one is far from the fastest to make landfall even in recorded history), and history describes many of great magnitude from various Asiatic scholars. In addition, there are various historical studies which suggest super typhoons are a routine occurrence and have been in that region for thousands of years at the very least.
Not arguing about Global Warming, I just had the itch to reply to that.

I don't understand your point. You can take one event a conclude it's the cause of this or that.
And like Khar said, there have been stronger storms before when AGW was not a consideration at all. Take a look at
Super Typhoon Tip.

SAorry but they've had super typhoons here before and they usually strike later in the season. When it comes storms here, the Philippines is Mother Natures whipping boy.
