He doesnt have to....he listens watches or reads how every other party just cant stand a single thing that he is doing and how wrong both he and his party are.....but all they do is talk....they lack the decisive will to act and bring about change...the big reason is that Harper is doing an outstanding job.....and as much as you disagree with that it is the truth!!!

You wouldn't know truth if it hit you in the ass.

I sincerly hope you were a communist protesting the great error we made in opposing the USSR back then

I hope you were part of the minority protesting that we should have supported them.

I sure seems like that now.

Thanks America and Britain for your kind words. I also think our troops are doing a great job.

However, talk is cheap. USA, Please send some of your 100,000 troops in Iraq to Kandahar province. Britain, feel free to send some of the troops pulled out from Basra as well.

Yours truly,
Canada

i understand peoples discontent with the iraq war. it is an illegal war, and waged under false pretenses. but i don't understand some of the posters in this thread that criticize the canadian government for afghanistan. when any country in Nato is attacked, all countries in NATO are attacked. that is the most important pricipal of NATO.
America was attacked by a terrosit organization based in afghanistan and supported by the Afghan government. The war in Afghanistan is completetely legal and completely justified. I don't understand atall how any NATO nation can be against that war.
Canada has been loyal and upstanding in afghanistan, and you should be proud of all the soldiers and of your government for upholding it's commitments as a NATO member. Thank you Canada!

and to reply to rationalist's post, i totaly agree with you. Thankfully both Hillary and Obama have both said that once they begin withdrawing troops from iraq, they will be increasing troops in Afghanistan. So lets keep our fingers crossed for a new Democratic administration!

It's not that we don't think Afghanistan is a just cause, giving Afghanistan's there freedom and such. We know its our duty as a NATO member as well. However the fact Bush is such a idiot, and his Government made so many mistakes at the beginning of this to currently like Iraq is just so demoralizing to NATO Members on the success of Afghanistan. Canada is a peaceful country, our goals are to spread peace to the world and not democracy. You give us a war that we believe in, and know is a good cause and we will give it our 100% support, and commitment. We would give our lives for such a cause, and be proud to do it. However that is far from the case for Afghanistan.

Because we think the American Government doesn't know its ass from its toes (Don't take that as a offense) and because of the lack of commitment from other NATO Countries. A lot of Canadians feel Afghanistan is just another failure, like the other tries. Which if its going to be a failure, which could be the case as Obama and Hilary wants to send troops home and pull out (From what I understand). Then there goes the plug on the war, and those Canadian soldiers who lost there lives died for no reason. Basicly we feel theres no reason to commiting as fully as we can if theres a great chance that what we are commiting to can just be flushed down the toilet any second it wanted to.

That's a really thoughtful and well researched post there, Bacardi4206.

So its ok that people live under totalitarian regimes as long as their goverment is peaceful. their populace can starve and die by the millions ie. North Korea, As long as they dont cause trouble. Yeah the UK tried that with Germany in the 1930s look what happened there.

Good Morning Derby

Communist? Wow that is a leap!!

I just dont have any respect for the Official Opposition, it is getting quite boring to have them tell the Cameras how bad the Harper Gov't is but in the house they do nothing, they have failed time and again to back up their rhetoric with anything substantive except to vote with the gov't and tell us how they dont like the CPC but they will decide when there will be an election.

I never have to come up with jokes about the LPC as they provide plenty.

ridenrain @ Fri Apr 11, 2008 7:46 am

Too late Stokes, Derby already won.
You see, he got in the last word, and by the rules of shrews and old fishwives, that's a victory.
It doesn't matter that his argument consists of "I know you are, but what am I" , all that matters is getting in that last, meaningless little jab.
.. and Mustang1 does it and he's a bona fide master debater who's always crowing about how many times he's won arguments, apparently, by always getting in the last word.

We'll just have to accept that facts, history and sound policy just don't trump the arguments of those old fish wives.

Rather then trusting you?. Just because I am 18, doesn't make you any more informed about the world then I am. However, if you got any points that you want to add that disproves my statement. Like statistics showing why people disaprove of the war then say them,if not. I advise you to not respond to this one.

I'll take that as a firm statement.

When you are wrong you what sentence should you face?

How about staying in the same room as you for 5 minutes. That would prolly be like a life sentence for any of us normal people...

stokes @ Fri Apr 11, 2008 8:33 am

Bacardi you are right, Bush is an Idiot and his little incasion of Iraq has probably doomed Afghanistan and is tearing NATO apart becasue apparently a lot of people so NO difference between in Iraq and A-stan especially those here in Canada who are blinded by their American hatred.

A-stan is a just cause and we should be there helping thise people have some type of future not neccessarily like our lifestyle but something safe and with hope!
