I sure as hell wish more independents ran. That way ABC would mean more than wasting a vote on some other establishment fucktard.

Are you saying I should run as an independent? I couldn't be Finance Minister that way. But several of my friends said I should do that when my nomination was disallowed in 2008. And again when the provincial association played games to prevent me from seeking the nomination in 2009 for 2011. And again last year. Deadline to register with Elections Canada was last Wednesday, so I can't. Tell you what: I'll seek the Liberal nomination again next election. If I don't get it, I'll run as an independent.

As the days get closer and people get serious, the NDP will crash and the CPC will move to majority territory.

Pppppth! ABC: Anyone But Conservative. I now have a sign on my lawn.

The leader of all 3 opposition parties have written a letter supporting door-to-door mail service. So this my way of saying ABC. Did you read the post where I reported a former president of the Progressive Conservative riding association in my riding (before the merger with Alliance/Reform) has said he is voting ABC? He's willing to vote NDP to stop Harper.

My area has never had door to door mail service, ever.

Don't get what all the fuss is about, it's kind of chickenshit as far as national issues go.

My point is you need a paper statement. The banks website is not good enough. As soon as they decide to screw you over, you won't get access to documents to support your case. That's what they did to me. Email and online websites are not good enough.

Losing door to door doesn't stop the mail. You know that, right?

I've never had door to door in my house. Ever. Never missed a payment or statement and I walk 3 houses down the street for my mail.

Good. Still hoping for a Conservative Minority with a large Liberal opposition. Force this country back to centrist policies.

So you're one of those nut-jobs that WANTS a new election every couple of months? Miniorities rarely get anything accomplished.

-J.

After a couple of successive elections (2-3) the Governor General has the powers to effectively spank the MPs and tell them to quit fucking around with elections and play along. Besides, the last string of minority governments worked out fairly well for the country.

Run as an independent, then become re-affiliated once elected?

How do you define "rarely"? We've rarely had minority governments so it's hard to compare but, for example, Lester Pearson's minority government (see andy's post above) was one of Canada's most productive and progressive governments in our history...so much so Tommy Douglas was voted the greatest Canadian.
