Interesting... this report looks exclusively at polygyny (men being permitted to have multiple wives, but women not being allowed to have multiple husbands), then slams the practice primarily because it seems sexist. This appears to be a good method for reaching the desired conclusion without really examining the issue.

The html version of the report is here: http://www.justice.gc.ca/en/dept/pub/poly/index.html

Hardy name me one organization or religion that allows Women to have multple husbands? In Canada? You seem to rush to protect any religion that demeans woman, it is becoming a very clear pattern on this forum with you. It is against the law in Canada, why isn't this crime not being punished in Bountiful? Hardy it's males forcing marrage on young girls, but I'm sure it's okay with you because it's their religious dogma.

What issue do you want to examine Hardy, the cult like lifestyle or the fact that it's the females fault? Not my words but I'm sure you will rush to defend the males and the practice of this religion as per norm.

Agreed, she doesn't seem to have read my post.

I couldn't care less about any religions, so I'm fine with any moderate and even-handed way society sees fit to deal with them. I just don't think that government belongs in the marriage business.

Lily's got it right: if someone does something like forcing a 14 year old into a marriage, arrest them for it. I don't care whether the 14 year old is male or female, or what gender their spouse is, or how many spouses either of the people have. The wrong is abusing a 14 year old, and that's exactly what they should be punished for.

Watching athiest liberals passing moral judgement is somewhat comical. Tell me, how can marriage between two men be acceptable but repulsive for three?

I'm no atheist, and who says marriage between 3 consenting adults is repulsive?

I do.

I disagreed with polygamy until someone asked why. Odd how no-one can come up with a really good reason. ;)

Can't teach morals to adults, you need to learn that when you are young.

Blue_Nose @ Mon Oct 23, 2006 6:44 pm

Well I'm young... explain it, hwacker.

No you are not.

My kids are young. Tell me so I can explain it to them.

Help me save my babies, hwacker!

You're tainted and it's not possible to teach morals to people over the internet.
Maybe that’s where you failed on your plight.

Fine fine, I know what's going on: you give your opinion on almost every subject, and the one time someone is asking for it, you claim it's "not possible" to explain over the internet.

Like Scrappy, you need to understand we're talking about consenting adults here.

I'm not an atheist either, and politically I'm a middle-of-the-road libertarian.

I don't care how many of what genders of adults get married, if that's what they want to do. So I guess nobody was saying it was repulsive for three.
