typical quebecios (francophone), stand up for nothing but love to be the arm chair quarterback.

Even in WW2 they were against the war despite their beloved France falling in the war.

France isn't beloved of Quebecers.

To start, that is Quebecois :D Also, please take a look at the thread title: It specifically mentions media. But without generalizing, the media does not speak on behalf of the entire population.

Sure, the French Quebec media is biased. They are pretty much for nationalism. Plus, the media is PQ biased. TVA, amongst others, is fully aware that most people will eat that crap. They pick and choose which headlines to broadcast and how they tell the story, meaning that often they leave out crucial information so that it fits their notion.

While I was there, I would watch both French and English Quebec news broadcast. There is a difference in the way the same exact news story is being portrayed, mostly in the political aspect. The francophone media is often filled with analyst opinions, which are mostly pro-PQ and Bloc. They only comment on Federal issues when there is a controversy of some kind. So, yes, in a few words, the Quebec media is biased.

think the media there is just trying to take advantage of the fact there is little support for the mission there .

they've likely been waiting for the first fatality from quebec for a while and prepared well in advance what they would do to make military and government look bad.

These are not Keybeckwah troopers/soldiers - they are Canadians who willingly signed on.

Where was the allo pure laine Quebecoise press when 'their' precious Vandoos were in Bosnia - barely a peep when it was discovered and much publicised when a platoon of Vandoos took over a hospital for the mentally ill and commenced raping both the staff and patients.

Fortunately for those accused, the military of the day stalled the investigations and managed to sustain the stall until the statute of limitations had expired.

Where was the 'je me souviens' press then I ask. . . .

good question where was the media back in the days when canada troops were in countries like bosnia, kosovo and rawanda .

i don't remember the military even being news back then . at least not at the level it is now making the front page or first story on the news every night .

Not all the French were collaborators in the war.

Quebec has always been somewhat Isolationist when it comes to Foreign Conflict. WW1, WW2, and now Afghanistan(probably Korea too, but I dunno)were/are not popular in Quebec. Has nothing to do with Courage/Cowardice, just concepts of Foreign Policy.

So you're saying there isn't much they will fight for.

I'm not sure who I liked better, the Vichy gov't or the Free French under De Gaulle... the man was a real pri<k right up until the day he died and had been a major thorn in the side of the western alliance since WWII.
