Qur'an-burning pastor jailed before mosque protest
I think people miss this point CK. There is a large anti-West Jihadi movement that looks for the smallest reason to kill and maim in the name of Allah and the Jihad.
Trying to avoid things that they will find 'insulting' is a game we will never win.
We should just suss out that these people will always hate us, no matter how nice we are to them. That includes the Jihadis' in Canada.
As I said, Predator + Hellfire AGM. Discussion with those intent on killing us is futile.

To lay those deaths at Jones's feet is just a cop out. There is evidence out there that the UN attacks were planned by Iranian backed Tallies just looking for an excuse, any excuse to attack the UN team.
I think we should realise that these murderous lunatics would have found another good 'reason' to murder these workers. Pandering to their whims out of misguided PC guilt just makes them bolder
Exactly. They will always find something or other to excuse violence. If not for this guy, it's for some other dipshit, or for American bases in Saudi Arabia, or for the Crusades or something.
This isn't the fault of the pastor, even if he is an asshole.
So, what should we do then. Burn a pile of Qurans over
here and see what happens over
there?
I don't really want to see anyone get killed over such a trivial action. The action would be less trivial if the action occurred where the point would be made all the greater.

If this is the point you are making then I must heartily agree. ( Perhaps if we remove Pastor Jones from the conversation we have some common ground. )
Discussion with the anti-West Islamists is absolutely futile. The world might as well deal with them now as wait till the buggers really get going....and I think this is just the beginning.
Islam is trying and has tried to impose Sharia Law in various countries, including Canada. The Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard suggested they should leave Australia.

Alright, let's set a book fire somewhere. Any book. Old books, new books, kids books, cook books, Bibles, Torahs, Qu'rans, and any other book you can think of. Toss them into a pile, and set them on fire. If you're smart, nobody will get injured or killed if you keep the fire under control.
People will get upset, of course, ranging from wasting good books, to having their religious beliefs offended by burning their holy text. Understandable, BUT THIS IS NOT A REASON TO MURDER SOMEBODY.
I can't go out and beat the driver who cut me off to death just because he upset me. I can't go around beating Hindus or Muslims or atheists to death because they don't share my religious beliefs.
Excusing the violent deaths of 20 people, because they were angry over being offended, is a crock of shit. We might as well go back to beating each other with clubs if we excuse these acts.

Interesting to see Brock agree with CK. You guys are actually on opposite sides. Brock wants to ban poppy burning and demos at soldier's funerals. Surely then Brock, you also would ban burning of the Koran? And CK wants to let it all happen and let the chips fall where they may.

I am not arguing with you on this point. I'm not!! "THIS IS NOT A REASON TO MURDER SOMEBODY." I absolutely 100 percent agree. I think we all agree.
The human junk that murdered the 24 people should be brought to justice too. They may never be brought to justice directly for this action. One of Brock's AGMs might get them but we will likely never know.
All I am saying is; where we can let us not endanger our own.
Otherwise blow the shit out of the toxic bastards. We have to consider each action concerning the Middle East very carefully. Terry Jones isn't very careful!

Actually blowing the shit out of the bastards tends to endanger our own. It's not like we can ever blow the shit out of all of them, or that blowing the shit out of them will get them to see the error of their ways. Just creates more toxic bastards.
Hugging them leaves them alive to kill our kids.

Have a rep for that....

The Taliban killed our kids? Or are you wanting to do some pre-emptive killing thinking that will help? Fine, throw a few missiles at them. Just don't pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
Who do you think is killing our boys in Afghanistan andy?

The Taliban, Brock. Why are our boys and girls there? What are they accomplishing? And what will your few missiles accomplish? You really think you can kill enough of them that they'll just give up? Hasn't worked in 9 1/2 years.

I think that we both agree on the main issue of banning one thing to protect sensibilities, while not banning another, even though it's just as stupid, is wrong. Moreso when that ban occurs because people are threatening violence.
I mean, do we really want a society where Christians groups, or PETA, or anybody else for that matter threaten to murder and riot when they might not like something?
My way, I find, is simplest, even if it does let jerkoffs like Phelps, or a large number of other groups speak.
andyt @ Sun Apr 24, 2011 11:37 am
If push came to shove I'd probably come down on your side. I like to wring my hands about the consequences tho, and think we're actually moving in the opposite direction.
Well, if Muslims have the right to demand the violent overthrow of western governments and the Westboro jerks can protest at funerals and the Nazis can parade in Jewish neighborhoods then this guy certainly has the right to protest a mosque on a public street.
The court, in this case, is wrong and the judge will be eventually handed his butt by an appellate court.
