And when Bill 6 was introduced to give Alberta Farm workers the same rights as farm workers in the rest of Canada, chaos ensued.

But, but, but... insurance cost money, and we don't need no f**king insurance.

You also don't need inexpensive food.

It's getting so friggin stupid around Edmonton there's a county up there thinking of limiting farmer's hour's of work, 8am to 6pm 8O

They wanted to stop them from making their kids work on the farm too... or am I mistaken? :?

That was a side effect of Bill 6, because they didn't consult with farmers beforehand. The bill limited farm workers to those who were covered under WCB, but WCB rules prevent family from being insured by WCB. So it would have excluded kids from doing chores because they wouldn't be covered.

I sure all the kids rejoiced, but the bill was amended.

You know, if your government keeps raising the cost of living in Canada pretty soon the only people who'll be able to live in Canada will be the Chinese.

There are still lots of cheap temporary foreign workers who come seasonally to pick our produce.

The thing we don't miss, since BC implemented similar rules, is 6 passenger vans rolling over and killing dozens.
