Unlike his son George H Bush was not an idiot. By placing the most stupid man imaginable (Dan Quayle) as V.P. he motivated his secret service to do their job to the best of their ability. If I was a patriotic American I think I'd prefer a bullet in the head rather than have Quayle as president.
