It looks like the North Koreans are making more than a public statement. Their game game of we will get beligerent until you give us more money is getting closer and closer to starting a real war.

   

The mighty Pygmy from Pymyang might be thinking with the US bogged down in the middle east now is the time to extort money.

I don't think that the South Koreans are going to sit by as North Korea plays its "live fire" exercises against their military for very long.

   

This is the "next conflict" that CF brass should be getting ready for.

Should have been finished fifty seven years ago.

   

The South Koreans are not going to sit idly by for this one.

   

Well, given that the two Koreas never officially ended the war, I'd say it's still going on.



Sadly, I think South Korea will sit idly by. Oh, they might cancel some aid, or fire on a NK ship or something, but I hardly see a full blown war starting over this, as neither China nor the USA will give their proxy the go ahead to finish the conflict.

It's things like this that prevent a unified Korea from ever taking shape. That will only come about when one wipes out the other government.

   

   

This may be an odd question, but do they have more in common or do they have more differences. One one hand they are the same folk, but their attitudes and policies are so different.

   

   

Start the damn war now while we still have the power to win it.

Pygmy accepts exile or S Korea invades. No US, Chinese, Russian troops move from their present areas. No new US, Russian Chinese aid, advisors or arms to either side for duration.
US vows never to enter N Korean area, begin partial withdrawal from South after end of conflict.
Former N Korea declared Free Trade Area. GM/Ford/Hyundai build major plant for free entry to China/Russia market through border railheads, to US market through new major port in former N Korea. International (including Chinese) investment + joint ventures in area courted.
N Korean people get to eat, go to work. US gets no military gain, accepts minor loss of presence, trades military for economic influence. China not threatened, maintains economic influence, maintains military influence as King Shit in the area. Russia not threatened, maintains economic influence. Everybody gains.
S Korea must win war on their own. N Korea can't attack S Korea without facing US south of 38th. Only Koreans die, but gain their country back doing so. They pay the price.
Diplomats gain.
Military doesn't.
Area gets stabilized.

Get to work.
US, Russia, China owe me 2 week paid vacation in each of their countries plus 2 weeks in New Korea for solution.
