Maybe you should do some reading in the history books. We've been in debt since Sir John A. McDonald was Prime Minister, because we had to buy the country in order to own it.

Canada's debt was small until Trudeau came along, he started the trend of overspending that put this country seriously in the hole.

It's undeniable.

Just think how great Canada would have been without Trudeau.

thinking about this movie and why it didn't do that good in theatres.

think the problem is its the summer and the typical movie goer is families or people looking for something to do. these people want to watch something fun and exciting not a documentary on the health care system. the movie company made a mistake releasing this "documentary" during the busy summer movie season.

this is the type of movie which will do better on video and on tv . thats when more people will watch it.

I think it's kinda funny in the U.S. - if you don't have proper coverage, you go to the hospital, generally they care for you, make you feel better and send you home.... then your worry sick for the next month waiting for the $5,000 bill you can't afford.

Or worse, someone tries to mug you, you get a bit beat up but you escape with your life and your money, but then the cops insist that you take an ambulance to the hospital when your injuries aren't critical, to the tune of $2000.
I've seen enough episodes of COPS to know you can refuse medical treatment. :)

Not all that much better. Clark and Mulroney didn't do much better than he did when they had their chance. We've had a serious lack of good leadership for 50 years...

I know, I know, we can't all me millioniars like GFPB or Bart S.

I don't recall telling you this, but this has been true for a few years now. A lot of scrimping and saving and (lucky) investing has paid off for my wife and I.

We bought the house in Oak Bay for cheap and it has since tripled in value, our home in California has doubled in value, our investments have done well, and that doesn't include the pensions both of us are accruing.

We're not over $2 mil but we are over $1mil in total assets.

However, this is not terribly remarkable in California so while it says we're millionaires on paper I still drive a 13 year old car, my wife still drives her 42 year old car (which is pretty cool, IMHO), and we fly coach when we fly.

A million bucks just isn't as impressive as it used to be.

Wow talk about lying and fudging numbers.

From this RW site...
In Sicko's first three day weekend after it opened nationally on June 29 in 702 theaters, its total gross was $3,600,179 or an average of $5,128 per theater.
Now the truth.

Sicko opened in 441 theaters,grossing 4,4 million,an average of 10,200 per screen

http://www.movieweb.com/news/86/20886.php

SiCKO achieved the third highest per screen of the weekend.

Flatlines?

The bad box office news?

Hardly

the second highest opening weekend of all time for a documentary, next to Moore's previous film Fahrenheit 9/11. The weekend grosses more than doubled the projected box office revenues projected by NRG.
Quote:

SiCKO built off of its success last weekend when it grossed an incredible $70,000 during its exclusive opening in one theater at AMC Loews Lincoln Square in NY and sold-out all 43 sneak previews across the country, bringing its cumulative gross to $4.6 million. SiCKO had an impressive less than 30% drop this weekend at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square, despite expanding into additional runs.

That picture looks like Moore in drag.

Zipperfish @ Fri Jul 13, 2007 9:31 am

The best thing I like about Micahel Moore is the apoplectic rage he elicits in Conservatives. I guess Moore and Anne Coulter are like matter and anti-matter. Or do either of them really matter?

Hi folks, long time no see.

stratos @ Fri Jul 13, 2007 9:53 am

M M matters more to those outside the US then those inside the US.
As for how great the movie is doing let rem. tickets are like 8.50 per person. So of course the numbers are high. Still I'm sure M M thought his movie ooohhhh excusse me his documentry would out do his first but it didn't and now he's all mad.
