$1:
Bulatci has already tried to plead guilty to manslaughter. His lawyer, Laura Stevens, has acknowledged her client was "a bad man" who was in Hay River to sell drugs.

But Stevens said Bulatci only intended to wound Worden when he fired the first two shots. The second two, which killed the young police officer, were accidental.

The trial is scheduled for seven weeks. "

You know their ought to be a law about lawyers trying to sell this crap in court. First TWO shots meant to wound is absurd enough, second two accidental? you'd have to had the IQ of a newt to buy that.

Anyone want to make a wager on how little time this guy gets?

Northern detachments are often understaffed by overworked Constables who have no backup. This needs to change.

Good luck with that, the RCMP just recently cut their big recruitment drive nearly in half and it does not look promising from what I hear that there will be any increase in staffing levels.

Seems while blaming the recession many municipalities cut money they had said they were going to use to increase the local RCMP contingents. Naturally hard times mean less crime right? So who needs proper staffing levels :p

Hollowpoint bullets are made for one reason only, to kill. They shatter when they make impact and the shards travel in many directions. They make huge wounds. This guy knew what he had in his weapon. He should not be allowed out in society ever again. His lawyer is a jerk.
