I can understand that. It actually has to be pretty liberating for the old hands from places like the former Yugo and Somalia. To be able to do something when you know it needs doing instead of hauling out a small novel of ROE caveats. Now they see Taliban and either he gets smart and puts the hands up or they can actually engage without approval from 9 layers of command.

We train our folks to think on their feet, must feel damn good to be actually able to do it.

This is not a peacekeeping or a peacemaking environment. Afghanistan, despite all you read is not even close to being there yet. I am glad I will not be here when NATO takes over....

I'm lucky that in what I do when I get deployed my ROE are pretty broad and I have a lot of discretion to accomplish and secure the objective.

Funny, my missions never involve peace keeping, just peace making. :lol:

I think peace making would be a much better term. For it to be peace keeping one would think there would have to be peace to begin with.
