Lets hope they fold it, place it in a cardboard box, write "Bad Flag" on the box, and then forget where they put it.
That flag was the least of the problems concerning racism in the US. TBH it's just another sacrifice on the alter of political correctness that won't solve a thing but helps some people feel good about themselves.
But now the question becomes. Have they opened up Pandora's Box and will any symbol that offends, has offended or been co-opted by radicals, mental deficients or criminals have to be removed?
Removing the confederate battle flag is less about political correctness and more about removing a symbol of slavery from a government flag pole. I've always thought it is similar to the swastika in it's message.

I kinda have to agree. In the wake of the Charleston shooting, taking down a flag that should have been taken down ages ago is peanuts. NOthing will change to the state's or US' guns laws, nor will there be any increased funding for diagnosing and treating people with the kind of mental problems that can potentially turn violent.
It is a band-aid, but at least it is something. I can't say that world is worse off now.

It's a band aid for what? Racism still exists, history still happened and the flag will continue to be flown everywhere except at South Carolina Gov't buildings.
So, this PC gesture and TBH that's all it is, is pretty much just meaningless symbolism and nothing more that's designed to make some people feel good about themselves without actually having to do any heavy lifting.

The Battle Flag is not a symbol of slavery any more than the US Civil War was solely about slavery. Why?
Because while slavery in the South ended with the Civil War it didn't end in the North until after the 13th Amendment was ratified eight months later.
The US Flag aka the Stars and Stripes flew over slavery far longer then any Confederate flag. No Confederate flag flew on a slave ship but 100's of slave ships flew the US Flag.
The war was not initially fought over slavery nor was it even major issue of the war till the North needed to have the morale high ground in the attempt to keep European nations out of the war. This was accomplished by declaring the Emancipation Proclamation. By doing so no European nation would back the south for fear of being seen as supporting slavery.

Slavery was the central reason for the war. Read the damned secession declarations.

Fascinating how few Americans understand their own history beyond a grammar school level. Tragic might be a better word.

Almost as pathetic as those who still think that slavery was all about Black people.

Read the main reasons why Lincoln and the North fired the first shoot to get the South back. It was for economic reason's not slavery. Learn to read more then the leftist slant on things to find out the truth.
