Forget the PET years? ROTFL there maybe a generation that never had to go through that. But they do know about it, hell, in my dads house it won't be unusual if that came up while eating Christmas dinner even today lol

Oh yeah...still talkeed about in my house. My dad is actively campaigning for the PC's in grand prairie hoping the Libs dont get in....I think the result would AB in a recession to match Ontario and Quebec.

If that's not fear mongering, I don't know what is.

What history? When was the last time we had a Liberal government in Alberta? How exactly did they screw us up?

Taft knows Liberal is a dirty word
in Alberta

I don't blame him, with they way jokers like you guys keep dredging up ancient history connected by name alone.

I think the NDP and Liberals in Alberta should merge and call themselves the Alberta Democratic Party. Shed the Liberal name that only serves to distract from the real issues, position themselves as a truly democratic option, make a strong connection to the province, and stop the vote splitting and infighting on the left in one fell swoop.

You know what Hurley you young guys can't even begin to imagine what we went through here in the pass, because of PET. In 1984 I locked in my mortgage at 13.50% for 5 years and looked like a genius in doing so. All I can say is keep a lucky Loonie tucked away, because when things get absolutely fucked here, I know you will still be able to use it to buy a house for the sum of $1.00

What the hell does any of that have to do with Taft????

hurley_108 @ Tue Feb 26, 2008 4:54 pm

Also, back in the 80s, didn't the Lougheed PCs do something about the insane cost of housing by capping mortgage rates at 10% or something?

What's Ed done? Dick. Fucking. Squat.

'Course Lougheed could position himself as doing this to protect Albertans from the evil Liberals in Ottawa. This problem is of the PCs own making. It's easy for an outgoing premier like Ralph, who can do no wrong, to SAY they had no plan, it's a lot harder to put your money where your mouth is and FIX your own problems.
