Racism.
This has nothing to do with race but with some self entitled individual screwing up and then becoming verbally abusive when they didn't get their what they wanted. I could give a shit if she was Filipino, Polish, or Congolese she played the race card to mitigate her indefensible actions hoping to garner sympathy and discredit someone who might have been an asshole but was just doing her job.

Video showed says that C***zilla behind the wheel took the first shot. I can see this happening. Had the same sort of thing occur to me once when I was a teen. Asked for a transfer and the escapee from the cattle car that was driving the bus flipped out on me. Never ever had a problem with the male bus drivers but the female ones all acted like they were former female SS camp guards that got fake identities and got hired by city transit. Don't know why, just one of those weird urban phenomena that occurs.

Still has less to do with race than it does with the fact people are inherent assholes. But if the driver struck the girl then she should be punished severely for her actions even if she was provoked. If you don't want people beating on the bus drivers the same courtesy should be shown to the passengers.

This may be true but doe not justify the driver punching her in the face. She was leaving the bus, suck it up and let her leave. Tim Horten's accepting applications I hear.

Kind of misleading. I know drivers. yes they are told to ask for people to pay, even ask again if they refuse, but if they still refuse they are supposed to either call it in or just keep driving. As for disruptions on the buses, they are told to call supervisors or police and NOT get involved. Drivers claim they are abused and get hurt intervening but they own colleagues (off camera) admit most of those assaulted bring it on themselves buy getting involved how they should not be.
You should know getting into the job that you will be sworn at. I have no sympathy for those who whine and cry about it. Unprovoked physical abuse is another issue. Getting into a screaming match with a drunk or street thug over being short 25 cents is just plain stupid.

Yeah, it's not like the difference comes out of the driver's pocket. The girl in question didn't even short-change the fare. All she did was ask for a transfer after the bus had passed a few more stops instead of asking for it immediately, which is probably something hundreds of other passengers do with other bus drivers every single day with no fuss occurring at all. The moron driver went into idiot mode because the request wasn't made upon entry? That's just plain stupid, especially when the girl paid to get on the bus without any ruckus. Sounds more like the driver was looking for a fight and went into petty public servant mode just because she was in a bad mood. Pretty much accepted that in the absence of immediate physical danger whoever throws the first punch is the instigator too. Driver should probably be fired or sent off for counselling for being unable to control her anger at a minimum.
