It's pretty fucked to dangle a million dollar life-insurance policy in front of a married man with cancer.

DerbyX @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:32 pm

Those damn dirty corrupt Liberals and their do anything to stay in power policies ....... Oh wait. It was the Conservatives.

Oh wait, I'm not Ridenrain.

Carry on with this thread that exposes the CPC as the corrupt do anything to gain power party that it is. I have islands to pillage.

Allegedly.
Cadman was a renegade and voted against his own party before he was chucked out. He's no hero and I'm sorry he died before his time but we should remember that he was no team player.
It was all about Chuck.

This is, simply put, ugly. And just the words Harper used when he was interviewed after Cadman's death show he didn't really feel comfortable about that either...

Well really, does it surprise anyone? Cons and Libs are just as corrupt. We all know they both engage in the same petty trickery.

One thing I don't get, still. Cadman's widow is running for MP for the... Cons in Vancouver? Is that the provincial Cons or something? I would hardly be able to believe she's running for the federal Cons after such a shameful offer - I'd have thought that's the kind of attitude you just can't forgive. That's just weird.

ridenrain @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:49 pm

This event happened 3 years ago and is comming out now because???
Donna was so upset but she's still running as a Conservative?

I don't have a problem with the CPC rewarding Cadman because he was a hell of a good MP and Reform Candidate. I'll be proud to vote for Donna and will suppport her in any way I can.

To reflect, all the other parties used Chuck as a club to beat on the Reformers when he legitimately lost the Conservative candidate electiion. The opposition and media ignored or belittled the man then because he was "only an indepoendant". Even before that key vote, the Liberals were arogant and indifferent and when he voted to prop up the corrupt government, he was sudenly lauded and cherished.

I definately do not believe Mr. Zytaruk.

It's politics old chap. Cadman played the game to the last moments.
Really, you need to immerse your self into the reality of politics as a profession.
Cadman was a professional politician.

His wife was so annoyed she's now a Tory candidate. The Crown rests.

fire_i @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:00 pm

I will always see that as a problem. Even if I wanted to run in politics, which I don't, I would personally never be able to accept the political "culture" of manipulation and behind-the-scenes bribery and lies.

Maybe I'm just bliss, but this will never cease to tick me off.

...

Heck I'm not bliss - this IS supposed to tick everyone off. This shouldn't be considered normal behavior, even by a politician! Urmph...

So you admit that Canadians might as well vote for parties over people? That MPs' loyalties should be to the party, not their personal principles or even their constituents? I believe it was pretty clear from the start that Cadman was a one-issue man - that he entered politics to try and stop the youth crime that killed his son.

Chuck WAS a hero, precisely FOR being for himself because Chuck was Everyman. Chuck was you and me, and that made him one of the best MPs we've seen in a long time.

That is kind of cheap, but, to be fair, so is wheeling people into parliament on stretchers to vote down a government.

ridenrain @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:02 pm

I don't believe that Mr. Zytaruk will be seen in Surrey North for a very long time.

For those that "can't believe", need to review the media assasination the Liberals did on Gurmant Grewal.

ridenrain @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:33 pm

Funny, he didn't say anything about it here:

July 14, 2006
Squatting on principle
On Wednesday, Surrey Now's Tom Zytaruk reported Dona Cadman, the widow of independent MP Chuck Cadman, announced she would be running for the federal Conservative nomination in Surrey North to carry on her late husband's legacy.

..or indeed anywhere.. Untill the Liberals started to get desperate about their election poll numbers.

fire_i @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:36 pm

I'm fine with you questioning Zytaruk's true motivations, but does that make the gesture more forgivable?

We didn't, she did.

We aren't desperate because so far all the polls show is a no change gov't.

Streaker is an NDP supporter but like always all you do is place any and all blame on the Liberals.

Your party disgustingly tried to bribe a dying man to further your own political goals.

I can only imagine the howls of outrage if it had been the Liberals.

Off you go now hack.

ridenrain @ Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:44 pm

I have no problem with them giving Chuck a life insurance policy but it's up to others to prove it was a bribe. If he read my damned letter, he would gave voted to squash the government anyways.
Right now, the only leads we have are a community newspaper reporter telling us what happened 3 years ago, with no support from Donna or anyone else.

I voted for Chuck twice: Once because he was Reform and once because he was Chuck.
