I know, right! If this is the biggest scandal we can come up with, I think we are doing pretty well.

Liberal apologist.

Sorry about that.

Sorry but the NDP MP was way over the top with her response. She leaves and then returns with a small speech and seemingly has to stop before she breaks down in tears and agony. If this is the strength of our government than we have some very serious issues.

The PM was right to apologize strongly and there will be political costs for this, but let's not turn this into an exaggeration.

Considering the fact that our allies don't trust us, the RCMP, CSIS and their so-called leaders have created yet another scandal for Canada, I am sure Trudeau has a great deal to be stressed about.

I agree 100%. The NDP MP was going for an Oscar there...way over the top but she probably learned that from Mulcair who just freaked the F out. Mulcair is a disgrace. Not to mention that the NDP members were obviously moving around to impede the Conservative whip from proceding yet now they want to talk about man handling and elbowing.

Mr Trudeau should have thought through his actions prior to advancing but the NDP is just disgraceful regarding this incident.

Why aren't we calling out the MPs that were physically blocking the guy from getting to his seat?

That is the action that pisses me off. I can't be the only one?

Behaving like kids, probably just a parenting reaction on the part of our PM.

That's normal filibustering.

And the video showed he could have gone around the table to pass them. The Conservative Whip was no angel there.

Would that have put him on the wrong side of the house though? I don't know the playground rules.

Politics have become so partisan that nothing gets done. I'm fine with some filibusting but it has to be done properly a la Rand Paul or even Jack Layton. Those guys were committed to their positions with passion. In the case of Layton I have no interest in his party, but I can respect a man who respects liberty and justice, even if I dislike his economic understanding.

This delay was a half hearted attempt to anger others, political at its core; without much more purpose. If a true filibuster happened in Canada it would succeed (as Laytons did) because so many of those in parliament don't have the stamina or even the concern to stick around for the vote, they generally just follow the herd when the party leader orders and wait for Friday morning when their weekend begins.

Trudeau was out of hand, he apologized enough, now get back to work on behalf of the constituents. That being said, if Harper had done the same to another MP this would be front page news everywhere and there would be calls for him to step down immediately. Will PM Trudeau receive this level of scrutiny and disdain?

As for Peter Van Loan, he was fairly useless as Public Safety Minister, I know because I contacted him in my time of need. Another in a long line of useless Ministers in that position, Vic Toews the anti-libertarian, Stockwell Day the dinosaur hunter and now Ralph Goodale the lifelong political hack and wannabe backroom government overthrower continue the proud tradition. His description of Trudeau was a bit over the top. Maybe if he had been a leader as safety minister, some of Canada's problems with our allies wouldn't be so great and the RCMP wouldn't be caught spying on journalists.

The largest deficit in this country: leadership and libertarians. We have a glut of partisan politicians.

You do realize the irony of ending a very partisan post with...

He acknowledged the situation properly, you just went on with your 'molehill' business.

Not exactly a molehill Lemmy. Physical contact in Parliament is strictly forbidden, even if unintentional

Nothing to see here.

"The House Of Commons Be Like."

shockedcanadian @ Thu May 19, 2016 11:38 am

No I don't.

First, Im not a politician nor am I on the taxpayers payroll. Second, I support anyone from any political stripe as long as he has the courage to stand up to injustice. Third, my concerns are a very personal and excessive, I have a strong opinion which I have voiced to our government and allied governments without any reservation regarding my position.

I'm not going to apologize for, nor hide my support for freedom, democracy or justice. Nor will I pretend that somehow Canada supersedes these important, universal concepts. Moral relativism doesn't apply to abuses of rule of law and basic Human Rights. Whoever supports them gains my support.

Entire NDP caucus arrive in neck braces, wheelchairs to House of Commons after Trudeau's assault

$1:
OTTAWA - All 44 members of the NDP caucus arrived in Parliament this morning wearing neck braces, arm slings, head bandages, and seated in wheelchairs after yesterday’s physical altercation with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“Justin Trudeau has ruined my life,” said Mulcair, wheeling himself into the House of Commons with one arm while the other was in bandages. “I’ve lost my ability to do the thing I do best: yell and point my finger. I will be pursuing full damages for my pain and suffering.”

The NDP claim that the Prime Minister’s vicious attack took place as the party was having a calm, respectful conversation about how to help poor orphans.

“He came running at me like a blood-thirsty maniac who crushed my body and my soul,” said Manitoba’s NDP Niki Ashton who was in crutches and wearing an eyepatch. “As a result, I have chronic pain and the inability to win leadership races.”

The NDP was not the only victim of Trudeau’s supposedly ruthless attack.

“He threw me over the balcony,” said Conservative whip Gord Brown while wearing a tight neck brace and moaning just loud enough to be heard by assembled reporters. “His eyes were like the fiery pits of hell! If he had any class, he would step down from his position and give me $383,000.”

Injury lawyers from Diamond and Diamond are pursuing a class action lawsuit against Trudeau and the House of Commons for $100 million and are reminding MPs that if they have been injured in a Justin Trudeau-related Parliamentary accident to call 1-800-SUEJTNOW.
