Harper also apologized for Residential schools and for the Chinese Head Tax. This isn't exclusive to any one political party.

   

According to the new breed of "conservatives", who would rather double-down GOP/Trump-style on even the most disgusting, cruel, & criminal deeds than ever apologize for them, those actions must mean that Harper was actually as big of a pussy snowflake as they say now Trudeau Jr. is. Also, forgot that Trudeau cried as his father's funeral, which must make him some kind of mega-cuck. Yes, this is actually how these clowns think.

   

Harper was good at keeping the lunatic fringe in line. Let them blow off steam passing an unconstitutional crime bill every 24 hours or so. Then he took his foot off their necks and let them blow it come election time.
They didn't learn that. Assholes just double down by nature, they can't/won't learn.

   

Apologies for past events are inane and pointless. Had I been alive back then I would not have agreed with the decision. That being said, Canada doesn't need to apologize for refusing to take uninvited people in when they show up at our doorstep. We don't owe the world a safe haven.

   

These people were fleeing for their loves. They knew it, and we knew it too. By we I mean Canada, Cuba, and the U.S. There is more than enough shame to go around for all three countries involved. The U.S. State dept. issued an apology back in 2012. It should have been a lot sooner and a much bigger deal than it was.

   

Makes you wonder what we're doing now that we're going to be apologizing for in 50 or 100 years. "On behalf of all Canadians, we unreservedly apologize to our bovine brethren. Before cows had equal rights, it was commonplace for people to make fun of cows for being stupid and even slaughter them by the millions for food. Sorrreeeeee!"

   

I’m sure that will be an udderly moooving moment in Canadian history although some will have a beef with it. I’m also sure the politicians on both sides will milk it for all it’s worth
