'Unhappy Meals' Making Parents Angry

$1:
"Unhappy Meals" featuring a knife-wielding Ronald McDonald and bloody rubber chickens are upsetting parents.
Angry McDonald's customers say the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are unfairly targeting their kids at restaurants across America.
PETA's "McCruelty Campaign" has ruffled the feathers of mums and dads iwho say they don't want their kids exposed to any throat-slitting chickens or pictures of slaughtered poultry, Fox News reports.
"I don't want my son to be around something like this. This is not fair for a child," Stephaine Gipson said.
"I think it's unhappy that they target children," parent Michelle Natale said.
But the animal rights activists claim kids are jaded enough by television and video games to handle the carnographic images, and intend to continue their campaign pressuring McDonald's to use more humane means of killing chickens.
"I think children and adults deserve to be told the truth - and that's that behind Ronald McDonald's smile is cruelty to animals," PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt said.
Rajt said most parents are usually troubled by what PETA calls McDonald's cruel treatment of chickens, and said that kids who "naturally empathise" with animals enjoy PETA's presence outside the Golden Arches.
"Kids are usually very excited to see the free T-shirts and they like our person in the chicken constume," Rajt said, referring either to the furry, friendly chick that visits some chains, or the full-grown fowl with murder in its eyes.
A McDonald's spokeman defended the franchise, saying it supports the use of a stunning technique that numbs its chickens before they are slaughtered.
"McDonald's works with leading independent animal welfare experts and makes decisions based upon science to promote continuous improvement in animal welfare as part of our broader sustainable supply chain initiatives," said Bob Langert, McDonald's vice president of corporate social responsibility.
It doesn't matter what independant animal welfare experts or procedures you hold to or use to back your position.... whoever or whatever those defenses are, they don't matter and are never as good as PETA's backers.... just look at the seal industry as a perfect example.
This seems to fall right in line with those anti-abortionists who hold up graphic signs along the roads during rush hour when kids are going to school, or those people who do the same thing towards the seal industry and show graphic images for their propaganda.
They need to know the truth afterall
Yet telling a child of the same age how sex works and show them pictures of genitals or people having sex is crossing the line and they shouldn't be exposed to that stuff at such a young age.
Yet we don't show our children pictures of burned bodies from napalm... we don't show them soldiers being blown up by IED's with limbs flying everywhere, or show them terrorists sawing someone's head off with a combat knife as they wiggle around screeming why all tied up.
No.... exposing our children to these sorts of things is perfectly ok and they should know at a young age.
Why? To scare the living sh*t out of them over subjects they have no legal input in, in the first place?
It's no different then scaring kids into believing they and their parents are going to burn in hell for all eternity because they don't believe what the finger pointer believes.
If they want people with half a brain to believe in their crap, maybe they should supply factual information, rather then resorting to using graphical images to freak children out who just wanted to go and eat their junk food.
And if you have to resort to scare tactics on impressionable children to some-how win your side of the argument, then you really have no argument to begin with.
"But the animal rights activists claim kids are jaded enough by television and video games to handle the carnographic images, and intend to continue their campaign pressuring McDonald's to use more humane means of killing chickens"
Big difference between simulated death and showing pictures of actual carnage.
So PETA has no issues with traumatizing little kids with graphic images of REAL slaughter and yet is concerned about how chickens are killed for food.
What do they want for the chickens? Maybe they would feel better if they hooked up the chickens to an IV and put them to "sleep" while listening to the mellow sounds of whale songs?
Fuckin idiots!!!
*ADDED* I think every parent that had a child recieve one of these "happy" meals should get together and file a class action lawsuit against PETA.

PETA, of course, or the People for the Elitist Treatment for Animals.
These are the guys who posted billboards comparing the killing of animals to the Holocaust. It seems they have difficulty understanding that shock advertising can backfire.

PETA, of course, or the People for the Elitist Treatment for Animals.
Indeed... they put more protection and more rights over animals then for humans. They don't give a rats ass about starving and suffering children and people around the world that need cheap and affordable food
(not just speaking about fast food here) ~ They all think everybody should be able to grow their own damn Tofu Soy Bean gardens anywhere on the planet to live off of.
Hell, most hunted and farmed animals have more protection and oversight on how they are killed then what most humans face in the world today.
They put their own emotionally charged objectives ahead of all of the more important things in life and simply think it's easy for companies and people themselves to live as they do without actually looking at the bigger picture.
Let's just say that every human was now forced to only each vegetables and fruits.... no more killing of animals for our needs.
Ok.... so instead of having a world food crisis we have now that's balanced by just about any food in an area that can and should be used for survival and otherwise.... we now have an entire global population forced to eat veggies so as to not harm the cute widdle animals of the world (which most wouldn't think twice about killing and eating us)
So now there's an even bigger hunger crisis, along with all of the animals we're not allowed to hunt, farm or cull who are all eating the same resources we are, and suddenly everything goes all to hell.
All because some idiots in PETA can't stomach that in order for one thing to live, another has to die.
And guess what? Plants are alive and there are a number of studies that show plants have a level of consciousness and have their own means of detecting damage/pain.
Think about it..... If plants were not aware of their own mortality and wanted to protect their lives, why would they evolve thorns? Why would they have shells? Why would they be poisonous?
When they're damaged, they regenerate/repair themselves.
Don't forget that some plants eat other things like insects and smaller animals, like the venus fly trap, etc.
As it goes for pain:
Plants Found to Send Nerve-Like Messageshttp://www.nytimes.com/1992/11/17/scien ... wanted=all"PLANTS, unlike animals, have no nerves, so scientists have been jolted by the discovery this month that the tomato plant uses an electric signal to alert its defense system against grazing caterpillars.
A team of researchers from England and New Zealand reported in the Nov. 5 issue of Nature that when a leaf on a tomato seedling is chewed by insects it sends out electrical warning signals, alerting the rest of the plant to the danger. As undamaged leaves receive the signal, they begin producing defensive chemicals that make them difficult to digest."All our pain and pleasures are derrived from electrical signals sent to our brains to tell us something is wrong.
Who is to say a similar effect occurs in plantlife when we rip them from the ground, chop them up alive, boil them alive, etc.?
PETA won't touch this with a 20' clown pole because if it's proven this is the case with plantlife, then by their reasoning apon suffering, Humans won't be able to eat anything.
They'll focus attention on all the suffering animals have to go through, but won't do anything for other humans or even the mass genocide of plants around the world that supports their whole argument of not eating animals in the first place.
-----------------------------------
You know what I think should happen?
Every member of PETA and those who support them should be tried in international court for
Mass Treason against the Human Species and made an example out of. They put everything as a priority over their own species..... thus treason against Human Beings.

I saw something on Daily Planet, I think.
Eventually, it seems, we won't need to kill animals for meat.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_vitro_meat

I've decided to become a vegetarian. Not that I have any moral objection to eating meat, I just hate plant life more.
raydan raydan:
I've seen a show about that. they call it shmeat(for shit meat). Looks like a fucking bad egg when they're done.
Choban @ Tue Aug 11, 2009 11:35 am
PETA, People Eat Tofu Only.
I'm all for personal choice, don't eat meat if you don't want to. But to bombard children with graphic images and then brush it off as no worse than tv or video games is stupid.
Lets hope theses kids become so desenitized to violence against animals the they eat a 12 oz steak for breakfast everyday.

This is the same group that was lobbying to have Knut the polar bear cub killed and who take in 21,339 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens and put down all but 7 of them.
Their nothing but a wealthy foundation that's bankrupt of good ideas.

I don't think its a good or effective campaign, but it's funny as hell!
Meh, PETA is useless, I hope they keep this crap up. Some day people will stop shelling out money for them.
The evidences are overwhelming. The only solution is killing chickens using lethal injection, so that no chicken will suffer again.
Seriously, besides whinning, what do peta activists do? They're just like tree huggers, they're nuisances.
