They'll want to get there before private enterprise does and things get out of control.

   

hello we, the US, have been talking and makeing plans since the 60's for a moon base

   

And people have been talking about private space travel as well. Is that a delusion?

   

never said it was just supprised that everyone is acting all shocked about this.

   

Finally, we need a place to put our deathbeam.

I am very excited about this. It puts humanity on a track which is beyond Earth. I wouldn't worry too much about the costs just yet. They are planning on using shuttle money for the moon base(considering it cost 1 bil to launch the shuttle, this isn't small change).

   

That is cool a moon base. So who owns the moon then? Or is space just a free for all?

   

The big issue is that the moon has huge reserves of Helium 3 which is integral to sustained nuclear fusion - the energy source of the second half of the 21st Century. It may also be the propellant to the stars.

Of course, the Democrats are criticizing Bush for not having an exit strategy for leaving the moon.

Well a lot of things get talked about..but its the money that's surprising. I mean you PLAN to get a new car, but if youre up to your neck in bills and are having trouble keeping the family happy, busy with work.. you dont buy it yet.

America has more important things to take care of than a trip to the moon.

also..LAME JOKE: did they run out of coutnries to invade they have to take other planets? (Satellite actually)

No they are invading countries , toooooo get the money needed , although they may have to pass a law which will put a Mcdonalds in your front yard and a Wallmart in the Back ...eat anything else or shop anywhere else would have to be a death sentence .

I have no problem with space travel or the future of reversing gravity riding light or anything beyond this elementary oxygen nitro hydro based spaced travel but the moon doesn't belong to the US and who knows what garbage they'll create on the moon .... so I think they should build a space station but perhaps on their own anus (uranus) hell they could build 300 million of them there

lol I dunno what will happen, but i guarentee the second "Vacations to the moon" is a plausable thing, mcdonalds will have a "returaunt" already there and waiting. Plus other companies..DISNEYWORLD?.. no DISNEYMOON!
Walmart will be there too then again, who needs frugal low low prices if you can afford to go to the MOON lol
