You can't believe it? Well then you would be shocked to hear that the LAV III was a Canadian design, as was the Grizzly before that. GM is the front end operater/manufacturer. All made in Ontario with backing from our Federal Government. Canada is known for its technical advancement in battle field technology. More so because it actually delivers what they say it can. One other point to bring up. the reason Canadian companies are doing so well is because militaries in the past have not woried as much about crew survivability as they do now. Canada always has because our military is small and keepign the crews alive just makes sense. It costs money to field a military force. Equipment can be replaced faster than the person trained to operate it.

It looks like a turret/cupola mount for a machinegun or greande launcher.

Certainly looks cool. takes a fair bit of power to get an 8 tonne vehicle moving at 150 km/h. From what i read in that article, it appears to be just what is needed on todays battle field: a light armoured personelle carrier. The hummer was designed to be a large jeep. There was other equipment out there for when the battle field got 'exciting'

I remember reading about this a while ago (not this exact article, because there weren't any pictures of it yet) and being happy to hear they've got a new machine ready to take the place of the Hummer..

Old hummer's sure... but I have lost virtually all respect for the Hummer vehicle since they've started looking less & less like a utility vehicle of any sort. I dare say the majority that are manufactured these days, probably wouldn't off-road nearly as well as some of the other SUV's out there. Now they're built for their name, rather than their functionality.

$1:
The $200,000 (U.S.) Gurkha is coming to a road near you — thanks to a King City-based company that is finding itself in demand because of the global war on terror.
